Default Harrison longbows

I always kind of followed the advertising for these bows. I know harrison is going out of business, and I just wondered if it was because they were so pricey. Do you or anyone you know shoot one? If so, what makes/made them worth $1200?
(No Jack, I ain't gonna buy one)

I haven't shot one, or even seen one that I know of, but I do know a guy that is familiar with them. From talking to him (someone who really knows their stuff concerning bows and their construction), I can't see them being worth what they cost--but I could say that about several things <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. I can say one thing for certain--even though I have never shot one, they aren't worth it to me.

Chad (never paid anywhere near a grand for a bow, and have no intentions of it either)

I don't know Jack Harrison, and I've never seen one of his bows, so I'm certainly NOT putting him or his bow down. Just curious about this business.
I am way too Dutchy to give a grand for one, unless it was a heck of a bow!! My Saxon Hawk has yew, black locust and Macassar ebony in it and they normally sell for $750 (I didn't give that either)
Wish I could post some pics of it!

I wasn't trying to down the bow or the bowyer, and I didn't get the impression you were either John--basically what I was saying is there isn't any bow made that is worth that to me. My new td Crusader will be waiting on me at the camp--phenolic riser, yew limbs, birds-eye bacote veneer, moose antler overlays, a moose antler &quot;arrowhead&quot; on the riser, and gains 2lb per inch (56@28, 60@30, 64&quot; bow). I have shot enough of these bows to know I am going to love it, and the pictures of it are sweeeeeeeeeetttttttt........but I still wouldn't pay $1,000 for it!

OH, I understood that Chad. Just didn't want anyone to think I had started a &quot;bashing&quot; thread.
I know what you mean about the crusader. I had a 66&quot; TD (sold it to Wahya, pre-trained) I would have kept it, if it had been 64&quot;. Great bow. May buy another one day. That one had phenolic riser and yew limbs. Very pretty and good shooter.
........so........if you don't like yours when you got to camp........you have my E-mail

John,

From what I've heard, Jack has had health problems in the past and that may be the reason he's getting out.
His bows are sharp looking and well made. If you can get one on sell, you might give one a shot.
Jack has ran a few sales on them in the past.

You're the first guy I've talked to that has seen one. How did it shoot?

John, could you e-mail me a picture of your bow with the Macassar ebony? I am wondering if it looks like the ME I picked up a while back. Man alive that stuff is pretty! Right now I have a delemma--got a choice of the ebony, two different figures in bocote, and some birds-eye/curly maple......it's killing me trying to decide what will be in my next bow!

Don't worry Chad ,I would never charge you $1,200 for a bow. Does $1,200 seem more fair? LOL

There are two guys around here who shoot them. I had no idea that they cost that much. WOW!!!

Honestly, I was incredibly impressed with both of the bows that I saw. Craftsmanship was excellent. The only thing is that the ones I saw had that straight HH-type grip...and I hate that.

The last guy that I shot with who had one was using wood arrows. Good Lord...that bow was quiet and FAST. I'm not talking &quot;longbow fast&quot; either...I'm talking high-performance recurve fast.

In short....VERY nice bows.
