Default Good Trade - Fedora for Crusader

Recently traded with Lynn from the TradGang for another Crusader. I had a Fedora he was interested in and I wanted another Crusader. Didn't dislike the Fedora, just preferred my Crusader.

"Old" one 64" 56# @ 28" - Yew limbs with actionwood riser
"New" one 68" 50# @ 28" - bocote and black locust

Chad, any way of finding out the specifics on this bow? #1289

I'll see what I can find out--anything in particular you would like me to ask? Just shoot me an e-mail.

One thing though--that's not a bocote riser, it's shedua. I don't know where that's coming from, but I've had several folks contact me talking about having a bow with a bocote riser, and it's always been shedua. Bocote is not a regular wood that Chek-Mate offers.....only one dealer that I know of can offer it.

Oh. Thanks, Chad. Just going by what I was told. OK, so it's shedua riser with black locust limbs? right? I'd like to know anything from ChekMate that I can find out. What are the limb lams? What is that red lam? actionwood?

I'll be contacting you about a string soon. Thanks.

Ugly bows, terrible on the eyes, looks like they'd kick like a mule, poor glass, poor woods in the riser and limbs .... overall not much better than a yard sale throw back from the 1970's

Okay, I'll give you $75 each for them, but not a penny more and I'm doing it more for YOU than for me

Lance, I'm thinking of a snappy comeback. I'll get back to you later.

I haven't seen a Crusader with an actionwood riser . . . . . very sharp. Is the actionwood heavier than say . . . cocobolo??

Cocobolo and Bolivian rosewood are the heaviest riser woods, the take-down with the phenolic riser is a little heavier than those.

Our local lumber joint has Bocote, but no Shedua. Bocote is expensive at just over 17 bucks a board foot.

Trade-wise, I would rather have a Crusader. Dollars wise it might be the cheaper bow.

Stealthycat, I love the applet of the running llama. Shouldn't it be spitting or something?

Sorry it took me so long--just talked to Marc, and if his memory is right he thinks that one is about 6-8 months old--practically new.
