Ebony and cocabola are two of my favorite longbow riser woods. Limb veneers don't matter much to me as long as they're covering bamboo, red elm, or yew cores. I think ebony riser w/bocate limb veneers makes a gorgeous combo, or cocabola riser w/yew or red elm limbs, and bloodwood makes sharp accents over ebony, and...heck the nice looking combos are almost endless. Come to think of it, I never met a bow I didn't like!

Hm, I guess I should have read all of the posts before I replied. Jawbone beat me to the punch. I am glad that you have decided to sell some of your longbows. Otherwise, I would not have the Fox reverse handle longbow you sold me.

Son, you want to talk purdy? Bacote and Cocobolo riser, Canarywood lams in limb with a inner lams of maple and I'm not sure what the other one is. It is either naturally reddish in color or is stained a reddish color. Sure is a beautiful bow to hold, to shoot and to be your one and only bow.

For glass bows, I like alot of combinations...

Osage limbs/cocabolo riser

Tulipwood or Yew limbs/bubinga riser

curly maple limbs/riser

These come to mind right away.

For selfbows, I prefer a nice, one piece osage bow. :^)

Does anyone have any experience with Juniper Limbs? Also a very pretty wood.

I got a look at another beautiful combination recently. Two-tone Shedua riser, Zebrawood limbs on a Hunter II take-down recurve. I would post pics if I knew how! Anyone care to help?

Chad...what kinda moderator are you? Can't even post a picture. Don't worry I can't either. Send that bow to me, my hunter II needs a buddy and I love Zebrawood. My riser is a pretty sweet shedua riser. You would never know it was one piece of wood.

Five lams of bamboo and Howard Hill signature and you have the best longbow in the world. I am working on buying a Howard Hill Half Breed right now which I can say no more about and a fellow I know may have an old original Howard Hill Longbow that I may be buying for my wall. Turns out the guy bought it from an old timer him self for 18 dollars. Now I have to start figuring out how to tell my wife as she thinks I own more longbows than I need in this life.

WOW CHAD! That is a nice lookin bow. My shedua riser isn't that dark, but that is cool cause it matches my Red elm limbs very nicely. My longbow is definitely going to have Zebrawood veneers when I finally get that money. Gaboon Ebony will look sweet with that.
