You may be more informed than what they can offer.
Be well.

eightwgt, I wish I had a digital camera so I could post pics of my bow and show you what that bocote will look like in a year's time. It ages beautifully and turns a deep, dark honey color. I love bocote and that's a gorgeous hunk of it you put into that bow!

Thats why I chose it - after seeing a lot of pictures of custom bows, that was all it took....... I got my tips and limbs sanded out tonight... have to make a real minor string groove adjustment, but Im almost ready to spray it up..... I cant wait to see it done - I am ready to shoot it. I shot it in the dark tonight.... about 6 shots... I was standing on my porch with the light on and only shot about 20 feet...... man it was nice - Its gonna be a shooter........ I got a recurve design down.... looks real good. Im going to build it in a month or so - FIRST I gotta finish this one....... Im really liking this traditional thing...... I never though it could be so much fun to build a bow, and then shoot it.
Ill keep ya posted

That bow of yours is a nice looking bow. Congradulations.
Now you'll never want to shoot a stick bow built by anybody else! There will be a lot of gradification in hunting and harvesting something with a bow you built yourself.
My homemade bows are not as fast as some custom made bows. But I'm a patient man, I can wait a half-second longer for my arrow to hit home!
As far as shooting somebody elses bow, today I'm getting the recurve I shot before I built my own, a Bill Stewart Custom Takedown, ready for ebay. I won't be shooting it again.
I did get a digital camera and the other day while waiting to ambush a whitetail I snapped a picture of a nocked arrow on my homemade longbow. The limbs (which won't be visible) are reflex/deflex in desert camo under clear glass. The riser is zebra wood with a strip of walnut sandwiched between maple laminates. I've been shooting a flemish fast flight string. I will try to attach that photo here. This bow has yet to take a whitetail, but its still trying.
Will you get to hunt with yours this season or are they closed?

I cseem to see thje photo...... Anyway - I hope I can hunt this year with it - Hogs anyway........ I want to become more consistant first as its been a while since I shot instinctive..... I still have to finish it - all I need to do is spray it..... I was shooting it today and was quite surprised how well I did considering it was a new bow and my long time parting from instinctive shooting style. I did really good out to 15 yards but was marginal at 20-25.....
The bow shoot great. I paper tuned it - first just a bare shaft to get the spine right..... I got it shooting a bullet hole - I was quite surprised how straigt it shot. I then re-fletched some 5575 GoldTips I have and put 5" Shield feathers on them with my new arrow fletching jig and went shooting a few hours later - It was so much fun--- I loved it. I loved being able to hold my bow almost horizontal and shooting it - my kids really thought that was cool - I was doing it at a mere 10 yards and drilling bullseyes...... But all in all it shot great - I am very pleased. I just have to get serious now instead of just blazing away and get 'tuned in' to this particular bow.......
Ill try to download your pic......
