Just wanted to pass this along to the group. I have been hunting for about 25 years now and I only started to hunt with a bow about 2 years ago. Well as of 17:40 hrs on 10/09/03 I can now say that I' ve taken a deer with a bow and arrow. I' ve hunted many of animals and killed many deer. However, this 130 lbs doe was the most euphoric that I have ever been about killing a deer. In fact, I called my wife from the tree stand just after I shot the deer and nearly dropped the phone because I was shaking so bad. Buck fever can' t hold a candle to a " virgin" bow hunter killing his first deer. I might add when I saw the arrow go through the deer the first person I gave thanks to was Jesus...and then thanked myself for putting in all those hours I put in practicing, reading articles and post from other hunters. It really pays off to practice in all types of scenerios. Anyone can kill a deer with a rifle, but it takes practice and skill to take one with a bow....This gun season comes in Saturday for us Georgians, but this one is taking my bow...My rifle needs a rest this season.......

Congrat on the deer!!!!!! The first one is the worst, cuz now you' ll be hooked forever. Nothing beats getting that close to an animal, and then being able to shoot it with a bow. I will remember my first " bow deer" , all 70 pounds of it.

Congradulations on your first deer with a bow. A great feeling, I still vividly recall my first one with a bow, an that was 28 years ago. You' ll always cherish the moment. Still number two, three, four, etc. will still be as exciting.
