Black Widow SAG
I like the looks of the SAG (though not the price) in 60 inch at the 55 or 60# range. Does anyone out have any experience with this bow? If so would you recommend it?
Thanks

RE: Black Widow SAG
gelarson, I have zero experience w/that particular model but have owned 2 Black Widow takedowns for many years. A SA II & a MA II, both are truly exceptional bows IMO. BW has a "test drive" program where you can try out one of their bows at your leisure. Be advised tho, that being a BW shooter will undoubtedly make you a target for some good natured "ribbing" from time to time! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Try one & let us know what you think!

Thanks Arrow. unfortunately I can't test drive in Canada that option is only avalable in the States. This is why I am trying to get any advance info, $1400 Canadian is a lot to spend on a bow. That is alot of savings. I like the looks of the Sa and Ma as well so thanks for the info.

i have no experience with that particular bow, i do own and saII w/ 2 sets of limbs, i highly rec the bows, BUT you can get comparable bow at lower price you just have to shoot some diff bows. I believe that i saw a couple on the women-outdoors.com classifieds and another on one of the other auction sites. As far as customer service goes BW is unmatched with any other company i have doen business with.

gelarson,
Not trying to tell you what to do but, imo, the MA and SA are the way to go in a BW Recurve.
I wouldn't have made that statement if you hadn't stated you like the looks of the MA and SA.
The MA and SA hold steadier, shoot better, have less hand shock, and have a much higher resale value.
They are available in cocobolo, bocote, and osage as well, in case you want something different from the norm.
When someone says "Black Widow" I always get a vision of the MA or SA in my mind.

Hard call to make. No doubt they are high quality bows, and they have a great reputation for customer service. It boils down to personal preference. Some folks love them, some folks don't. You will find that with any bow. Hopefully you will get a chance to shoot one first, then you can make an informed decision.

CHIP SHOT- MA RISER IS 2" longer than the SA IT IS IN THE SIGHT WINDOW SO IF YOU DON'T CANT THE BOW IT CAN BE A DISTRACTION. THE SAG HAS AN EVEN SMALLER SIGHT WINDOW.
I HAVE A SAII AND A MAB ( ACTUALLY A MB NOW THEY CALL THEM MAB'S )AND HAD A SAG. I PREFER THE SA BUT IF THE MAB WAS THE SAME POUNDAGE I DOUBT THERE WOULD BE A PREFERENCE OTHER THAN LOOKS. WHEN I SELL MY MAB I WILL PROBABLY GET A NEW MODEL SAII. I GAVE THE SAG TO MY HUNTING PARTNER. I LIKED THE SAG AND COULD SHOOT IT FAIRLY WELL BUT THE GRIP WAS MORE LIKE A LONG BOW AND IT WAS JUST NOT AS COMFORTABLE TO ME. HERE AT OUR ARCHERY CLUB ,THAT WE HAVE AT WORK, A NUMBER OF GUYS HAVE SHOT THE SAG AND REALLY LIKED IT, MOST ARE LONG BOW SHOOTERS. I ALSO PREFER THE TAKE DOWN FEATURE WHICH MY SAG DID NOT HAVE.
