Smile Vintage Ben Peurson Recurve Bow

Hi guys,

I have a Ben Peurson Bow, it is marked that way. I have seen bows made by Ben Pearson, but mine is spelled differently. It looks to be made from bone with a leather grip, and the number 304 is marked below the grip. Was curious to know more about it. Is it good to use for hunting or should it be kept as a collectors item. Thanks

That's one of his old solid fiberglass bows. Sorry, it's worth maybe $15-$20 (last I checked). Good kid/beginner bow, as they are pretty tough...but generally not a good shooter. Slow and shocky.

It's 5 feet 5 inches and i was told the draw weight is around 50 pounds. I don't think its a kids bow. Where did you find the info about his older bows?

They're not worth much...LBR stated it pretty good. Most fiberglass bows I've seen were light weight but there are some heavier hunting weight bows to be found.

I've seen them 80+ lbs, owned gobs of them. Not all were kid's bows obviously, but I've never seen one that would bring much. A lot of old bows, especially Pearson's, were mass produced and don't have much collector value. The solid glass ones aren't great shooters either.

Thanks LBr

You guys have been helpful. I will string it up and use it as a target/rodent bow.

I know I started with one similar to that a thousand moons ago; wish I'd held on to it just to let my kids see what we had to endure back in the day.
