Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Just wondering what everyone uses. I' ve shot both. I' m currently shooting a Kantpinch tab faced with calf hair. I' m considering going back to a glove, they just seem alot more conveinient.

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Right now I' m shooting a Damascus. It used to seem a little thin, but now that I' m shooting better it doesn' t seem to bother me much. The first few shots really hurt still, but I think that' s my fingers (way old injury) opposed to the glove being thin. Brandan |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I picked up a Supertab from Alaska Bowhunting Supply while at DentonHill. I love it. Was shooting a calf hair tab. I really like how thin the Supertab is. My release has improved, getting smoother and more consistent:D

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Im using a super glove. After about 2000 shots, its just now starting to get broke in. I like it so far.
|
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Kip,
That supertab also is good for cleaning that magical mud from a longbow;) |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I have my tab phases and my glove phases. Just now exiting a tab phase and going back into a glove. Seems like these phases are seasonal, tabs during the heat of the summer and gloves during the good huntin' weather, fall thru spring.

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I shoot with the Damascus style glove.
I' ve tried tabs with indifferent results. They are a little handier if you have to use your drawing hand for something requiring fine dexterity because they' re easier to remove or rotate out of the way. The glove seems easier to shoot with because one doesn' t need to worry about positioning it over the fingers. The non-Damascus style gloves are pretty worthless I think. The finger stalls keep twisting on me. |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Tab here. I can' t feel the corner of my mouth with a glove. With the tab, my middle fingertip is exposed so I can feel my mouth with it.

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I shoot a tab. Tried a glove (superglove) and just didn' t like it. Course, I' ve been shooting tab since the beginning, so I doubt I' ll ever switch. Besides, I can slip a tab over a glove on cool mornings in the fall and winter. Don' t think that I' d be able to do that using a shooting glove.

Tab.

Have yet to find that perfect combination. Liked the Big Shot glove for awhile but it is just too thick in the stalls. Don' t care too much for the Damascus style. Presently using a Neet glove with calfhair finger stalls.
Just received a Bateman single thickness cordovan glove this evening via UPS. Shot a bit in the back yard and the arrows were almost missing the target way to the left at 10 yards. I tried three fingers and two fingers and it didn' t seem to matter. I was really hoping this glove would be it. Don' t care for tabs very much. Haven' t found one yet that doesn' t expose my ring finger to a whole lot more punishment than I care for it to receive. Bill |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I am using a kant pinch hair tab and have tired the glove but just do not seem to feel the ancor as well with the glove.

Tab. Bateman cordovan.

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
![]() I use a traditional super glove. Seems to work very well for me. |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I perfer a tab.(calfhair)
PSE makes a good one. I picked up three calfhair tabs made by the nothamerican archery group( they were cheap) it has a finger spacer which I like and they are thicker than the kantpinch tabs. which I find give me a smoother release with the string rolling off a flatter surface than with a thinner tab rolling in the groves of my fingers. I have' nt tried a glove since I first started. The thingsI did not like about the glove I had was it developed string grooves in the fingers after a while affecting acurracy. and a tab is easier to flip around to the backside of my hand when I need to use my fingers. I also refer a monofilament or halo serving they don' nt pull the hair out of my tabs. |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Hello
I prefer a tab as well. A glove seems to make my fingers feel fat and clumsy. I use a wilson three fingers under tab currently. Dan |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I' m a glove man !:)

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Gloves for me--I started shooting wheels with a tab, don' t remember exactly when I swapped to a glove. I bought two or three different tabs a while back, and they all just feel weird now. I like my Superglove, but I would not buy one via mail order--the sizes don' t mean much, as I have tried on some " large" that were as big or bigger than an " extra large" , etc. I get mine from a vendor at a shoot, where I can try them on. I like my new American Leathers " Big Shot Slick Shot" ,l but not sure yet if I like it well enough to pay $30+ for another one.

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
I was finally able to get my new single thickness cordovan glove from E.W. Bateman to shoot well today with the heavier poundage recurve. I' m getting a great and crisp release with it and it protects my sore ring finger much better than any other style glove or any tab I' ve tried.

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Bill, if your ring finger is getting sore, most likely you are doing what I did (and still catch myself doing at times)--torquing the string . You may be pulling with a lot more pressure than you need to with the ring finger, which can cause problems. It took me a little time, and concentration, but I have pretty much got it whipped (still gets me now and then, but not much).

RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
C had,
Does that mean I' m turning my string hand clockwise while drawing the bow? How do you work on preventing that? Bill |
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Target shooting tab or glove depens of which bow shooting that day. Hunting bare fingers. Glove or tab gets in way of shooting.
|
RE: Gloves Vs. Tabs?
Could be clockwise, but most likely you are cocking your wrist (that is what I did/do). You will notice at full draw you have more pressure on your ring finger than the other two, and you will have a callous/sore finger if you shoot much.
I concentrated on making sure I felt the pressure on my middle and index fingers. Someone posted a while back how much you should be pulling with each--the ring finger was to be pulling the least. Chad |
