Default Right Around the Corner.....

October 1st will be here in no time. I've got to make myself get out and brave the mosquitoes, deer flies, ticks, cottonmouths, copperheads, hot weather, etc. and do some scouting, put out a camera or three, etc. I plan to change one set-up this year, maybe a couple. Got to get on the stick, or it will be "dang--too late" again.......

Yep, it’s time, I don’t have a lease but I do get enough invites each year to tag out. I’ve been getting ready the last two weeks and shooting about 100 arrows with broad heads a day. I’d shoot more but it’s hotter than a pistol whipped sheriff in Texas right now. I’m dead on with my compound to 50. Since my accident I can’t shoot my long bow too much shock on my hand with this brain injury I’m nursing.

Great to know you will be up and at 'em this season Bob! I rarely shoot broadheads myself--one of the benefits of shooting the same set-up for the last dozen years or so--no surprises.

I do need to get out and do some looking and scouting though...

I'm not doing any scouting until the weather cools off a bit. Everyday, it's 104 or 105 degrees in the afternoon. By 11am, around 94-95 degrees. I hope the weather starts to cool off by the second week in September.

Same here--I keep saying "I've got to get out there today", but man alive....I leave a sweat "bloodtrail" wherever I go. It's just nuts! I won't be hunting in this kind of weather...if you don't see it fall, it's pretty much a guarantee the meat will be spoiled before you can get the guts out.

Bob, you know you can always hunt on my land. I expect it. Im concered about the deer on my property, we have not had rain since last winter. The river is not dry, but there is nothing growing. Just a month away untill opening day, and if the temps stay in the 100s, i will skip opening day. Heck, ill skip hunting until the temps go down.
