FL State Championship sponsored by the Traditional Bowhunters of Florida--leaving in the a.m. (Thursday). Hope to check in by laptop. More of a social visit than anything else--my Eric Krewson BBO is still being repaired (nearly done, but not quite), and I haven't practiced nearly enough with my other selfbows or my longbow. I'll go have a good time and visit with some friends I don't see nearly enough, maybe shoot an arrow or three.

I'm in Leesburg now. I goofed when looking for a hotel--this one is about 45 miles from the shoot. Gonna' look around tomorrow for something closer. Took about 11 hours to get here, but we stopped quite a bit and took our time.
I think I remembered the camera--not sure. I know I grabbed it once, but not sure it made it into a bag. Hope it did...if not, maybe I'll remember to grab one of those cheap disposable ones.

Found my camera, but forgot extra batteries. Will look for a Wal-Mart nearby. Had a ball today, just piddling around. Toured a local winery and went to Parrelli's FL headquarters. Headed to the shoot location in a few to check it out.

Well, I blew it. Messed up and signed up for selfbow, but didn't read the rules--have to shoot arrows with self nocks in the selfbow class here. I found out after I'd already started, and blew up--fell apart. Shot a 120 and a 125 on the two 20-target courses (possible 200 on each). Oh well......
Got ranked and shot with folks with a similar score today. We started by talking about how the pressure was off--if the top three groups had just walked away without shooting, we still wouldn't place. Only shot 20 targets today, and even though we played a good bit I shot a 160.......crud.....if I'd shot that on the two courses yesterday, I would have been in the running. If frogs had wings........
It was a good shoot and a good time though. Didn't get the camera out yet--might in a few. It's been sprinkling a lot, and I'm just not a picture taker--makes me feel like a tourist. I'll try to get a few for the board though.

With the weather like it was I didn't get my camera out....and honestly I forgot when it wasn't sprinkling. I got a couple of pics with my phone, just have to figure out how to get them off the phone and onto the computer.
The scores were amazing. In men's longbow, I think the scores were 545, 550, and 555. In men's recurve, the winning score was 600! With the 6 bonus shots, a perfect score was 630! Man...I wouldn't have been in the running even if I had shot 160 on both courses the first day!
I plan to get back to that one, and be better prepared to shoot when I get there--they got some ringers down that way.
I loved the course--tight and trashy, just like I remembered from last time. Just a few long shots, all of those were "Masters" shots (bonus) where you could choose to take the longer shot for extra points. Definately one I'd like to shoot again, even if it is a 10 hour drive one way.
