Default arrow damage from backstop

I' m a compound convert and have been practicing for some time with my traditional equipment. I took everyone' s advice and have stuck with aluminum shafts until now, but am ready to make the transition to cedar. My backstop is a homemade permanent wooden frame with textile remnants held in by woven wire fencing. I was just wondering if the wire would excessively damage the finish on the wooden shafts when extracting. I would thing the head would take the brunt of the abrasion on the way in. If so, what is a good target material for wood shaft?

Unless you want to put out for a 3-d target, I suggest a bag target. You can stuff it yourself, using the same material you have now, but plastic (grocery/Wal-Mart bags, plastic sheeting, etc.) is much lighter and waterproof. Eternity targets, foam blocks, etc. will work good also. The wire will scuff up the woodies sooner or later.
