Preferred broadheads?
I'm new to trad shooting, looking for info on recurves.
What broadhead do you prefer for deer, and why? Anybody use Slick Tricks with recurves? All info appreciated! |
I use Outback Supreme Single Bevel heads in 125 or 220gr's with a 100gr brass insert.
![]() Blade thickness of .043 and hardness rating of 51 rockwall they are 1 tough head. |
I use 220 grain muzzy phantoms, get em real sharp and they will blow through anything. I also have 150 grain magnus stingers that are nasty
|
I use 150gr Snuffers, 150gr Woodsmans and 150gr 2 blade Stingers w/bleeders here! All 3 heads are a true cut on contact head. I love the 3:1 aspect of the Woodsman. The Snuffers put a huge hole in animals as well as the Stingers!
Would I use Slick Tricks with a recurve... no. |
I tried out a bunch. Went fancy with phantoms and such, and came back to magus 2 blade.
I really suggest a 2 blade with recurves and such. |
Ribtek, Wensel Woodsman, Magnus, Zwicky, etc. etc. etc. No mechanicals.
|
I use 125gr mangus two blade
|
What weight bow are you using and what type of arrows? Long arms or short?
Genarally, if you are shooting light poundage or light arrows, or you have the above and a short draw, you might want to keep it simple with a basic two blade broadhead like a Magnus II or Zwicky Eskimo. If you have an average draw and are approaching 50#, you can try the wider heads and the mulitple blades like the Woodsman and 2 blade heads with bleeders. Keep it simple and sharp. If you cant, the Slick Trick will work. |
