I am trying to refinish a 1974 seneca recurve bow. i want to do some detailed brush work with a fall leaf/treabark pattern. I need some advice on what brand of paints/brushes work best. I am really looking for more of a dull finish. Nothing real glossy or shiny. Any suggestions on brands of paints/brushes and where these items can be purchased would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Try looking in your local hobby store for artist's brushes, they come in a varity of different sizes, you should also be able to pick up paint there as well get the flat style paint.
Sorry I can't be of too much help as I dont paint any bows.

Heck, I have many friends who paint every bow the make. The key is to let the paint cure and seal it when done. A good finish coat of shelac, urathan, verathan, tung oil, etc. etc. will work. Just stear clear of tepra paints, unless you seal it with a spray finish.

My wife does a lot of "tole painting". It is a different type of painting and may be useful for what you want to do.
