Default IPE/Boo Glueup

Well guys, I decided to try to tackle Kent's design for a IPE/Boo. I think I did everything. I wiped down the IPE like 15 times with acetone. Still had some brown coming out on my towel. Hope thats not going to be a problem. Covered all areas with tape. put in my power lam, and glued it all together. She is sitting in a make shift form. I have no idea the reflex. I just hope its not so much that my belly will break overnight.

Gotta figure out a better way to wrestle with that bike tubes wrapping her up. I don't have a sturdy vise.

Wish me luck and say a prayer.

I just hope TBIII sands off easy. I think I went a tad heavy on TBIII[]. I checked on her this morning and all looks good. I think I will let it sit in the form until tonight.

Good to hear. Dont worry about titebond, it sands off easier than epoxy.

How about some pics.

So anyone know how long it has to stay in the form with TBIII? TBIII says do not stress joints for 24hours. I figured when I take it out of the form, the joints from the reflex will be stressed at that point.

Ill leave mine wraped for around 15-20 hours, then unwrap and let dry, out of the form, over night.

I got some, but scared to post. Everytime I do a build along bad things happen. Figured I will take pictures along the way and post if it doesn't break.

Well, she survived the glue up. Everything looks pretty good. I have one spot that concerns me that has a small 1/64 gap. But I believe if I keep sanding I can get below it.

For some reason she only has 1" of tip reflex. I figured she would keep 2". I had 2.75" blocks holding up the tips.

So I sanded down the boo tonight after cleaning up. Sanded off the glue. I need to get some finer sandpaper. I sanded the boo with 100grit, then 220grit. Figured I should sand it as well as possible.

It never hurts. 220 is usually fine. You shouldnt pull any splinters. Ive tillered many bows that the boo was sanded with 220. But hitting it with a 300, 400, and 600 wont hurt a bit. Smoother the boo, less likely to pull a splinter.

As for you 1/64th gap, you should lose that when you trap it. Some times those real thin edges dont lay flat, but they are very shallow and almost always come out when you trap, or sand the boo. If it doesnt, let me know and ill show you a trick to fix it.
