RE: The Pass Around Build A Long

We interrupt this program for an important announcement:)

There was something about the riser that was bugging me.

So yesterday I made another one this time with Morado on 1 side and Bubinga on the other with the same core woods, Redheart,Yellow Heart,Purple Heart and Zebrawood.

I am much happier with this one:D

Ok back to normal viewing

Brad.

Check your PM's;)

Ok back on track.

Once you have marked the center line of the riser place your drilling jig on and drill 2 holes in each end 1 1/4" and the other 15/32".

Then with a 1/2" tap carefully tap the 15/32" holes.

Then mix up a little epoxy and place a small amount onto the threaded insert.

Now using a locking nut and one of the limb botls screw the insert into position so it is just below flush.

Wipe off excess epoxy and place the riser into the heat box for an hour or so.

I decided to go ahead and cut out the sight window and shelf.

Had a couple of splinters pull out near the insert and another one at the shelf as you can see by my hand[:@]

I should be able to glue the one by my hand back into place before I start the final shaping;)

Here is the Bubinga side.

From the back.

Thats all I can do now till the glass arrives, I was notified that it was shipped today because of the holiday yesterday so it should be here in 2/3 days.

I like the outside wood choices on this new riseer better than the other one. Going to have to attempt to build one myself some time.

Normally the bows I make ar 66" but seeing there are a couple of long draw guys who have shown an interest in the pass around I have decided to make this one 68", hopefully this will be a bennefit for the long draw guys in terms of stacking.

What I will do when it's finished is put it on the draw board and draw it to 32" and see how the poundage is.;)

you know .... Arkansas season lasts until Feb 28th if you need someone to demo that bad boy first :) it would give me a chance to get some arrows made up to send around with it too .......
