Default need help finding a string

My granddad died a few years ago but before he did he gave me his recurve. I have shot it some but my local bow shop doesn't know alot about traditional bows. It needs a new string desperately. It is a Bear Grizzly. There are also some numbers on the side and they are KR59320 AMO-58" 45X#.Any information on my bow would be greatly appreciated.

Your Grizzly was made in the '70's--hard to tell what year, though.Bear started the "K" serial no.'s in 1970.You'll need a 58" AMO string-actual string length will be about 54".Use dacron(B50 or B500)and not a fastflight string. The 45X# is 45# at 28".The X means that it didn't make weight.I just forget if it means under 45# or over 45#

I'm sure you are going to have a great time shooting your Grandfathers old bow. I'm sure it mean an aweful lot. Talk to LBR (Chad) here to get yourself a custom string for the bow. IF you know what types of nocjs you'll be using, he can also suggest the correct serving. Nock fit is real important in trad equipment. As Jim has stated, only use Dacron.
