This weeks project, new bow
Ive been to busy to really work in the shop. I wanted to make a bow over 60lbs for this hunting season, so i got out the ipe and boo. I glued this bow up a while back and had to finish two other bows. I just got back to this one this week and started tillering it in the afternoons. It is 68" ntn, Reflex/deflex, ipe boo with cocobola handle. 64lbs @ 30". It is tillered, rough sanded, and fine tuned. It just needs to be finish sanded and sprayed.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Man, my tiller tree was setting catty whoompus. Looks like the bow is going to fall over to the right side.:D ![]() This is a very sweet shooting bow, if I say so myself. Ive shot it in already with about 100 shots. Im ready to get this guy bloody. This bow is going to stay here, im not going to get rid of this one. Russ I still have not had a chance to rip those curly maple lams for you. Im going to do that tonight. I will be going to Dallas this weekend and might just drop them off on my way or comeing home. Ill give you a call and see what would work best for you. Since you have a planer, ill grind them to 1/8", that way you can reduce them if you want. |

Thanks English Hope
Well, I had to post a pic of the finished bow. I had a little mishap with a sharp instrument, so I have not been very busy in the shop. I did manage to put the finishing touches on this bow, but have not had a chance to get that osage boo bow going. This bow ended up 63lbs at 29". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is some future bows. ![]() |

Looks like a beauty! |
RE: This weeks project, new bow
I had to bring this one back up and question kent some more.
Kent, you told me you cannot just glue on a handle. You said it had to be still to start with. Is this a stiff handled bow? |
RE: This weeks project, new bow
Yes, this is a static grip bow. I built a little deflex in the handle so it appears to be bending more in the fades thanmost wouldlike. It was a great shooter. They guy who bought it shot his first trad. deer with it this year. I almost hated to part with it.
