Passing it on
#1
One of my coworkers threw a bash for the fourth Saturday, and when I heard that it was going to be "kid friendly" I asked if I could bring my shooting dummy and a couple of bows for the kids. He agreed, and the kids had an absolute blast! I actually got more action than the rented jumphouse or the pool. Only one of them had ever shot a bow before, yet by the end of the day all of them had hit the foam deer at least once. I also got many compliments from the parents for giving the kids something that excited them that much, and for my apparently patient and safe teaching style. I have you guys on this forum to thank for the ability to do this, it was your advice and teaching that got me not only out in the woods with a stick and string, but at the point of passing on what I learned from you. In the pics below I'm the fatboy on the right. The kid shooting with me hit the deer on his third shot, right in the vitals, and got one of the two bullseyes scored by the kids that day. I would have more pics, but wifey had the camera, I was too busy coaching the kids.

Thankee fellers!
You know what's funny? I was having so much fun with the kids that I hardly had a beer all day, a record for me at such events, and the few I had were all over an hour apart. I was actually able to drive the 15 miles home without fear of Johnny Law for the first time. LOL
