I think I see a trend in your builds there burnie. At least in the handle. How do you get the tapers the way you need them? Do you ever put glass on any of these?
I try to make board bows to try different designs. I like to do a couple of different styles of grips, but most have some sort of pistol type. I'm not much on a flat/straight grip. I grew up with recurves and grew accustom to a deeper grip. For fades, I do power lams or belly lams over the riser or build them in the belly. Most of these were built with the fades in the belly all set at about 2 + inches. I get a limb length in mind and build or cut my risers to accommodate that length + 2 1/2" fade. I use that as a starting point. The smaller bows, I used 1 3/4" as a starting point. More fade is better than too little. You can always reduce the fade, but can't grow one back when you start poping risers or lams off.Once I get a bow the way I like, I write all the specs downso I canbuild similar bows.

Oh yea. Bigcountry, The top bow has a glass backing. The hickory backing lamhad two run offs, so i thought Id glass it just for safe measures. Im going to build me some new forms, some time soon, and start doing some lam bows under glass. These board bows got a new design stuck in my head, I want to play with. Well, I got an Ipe bamboo bow I want to build for next hunting season first. Man, I need more time in the day.
