Quiver Ideas

I am looking for a quiver for a recurve to goes on the bow (not a hip or back style).

What do you use? What do you recommend? I would like it to hold either 3 or 4 arrows.

Thanks:D

I use Cat Quivers now but when I did use a bow quiver,I had the Selway and Great Northern.I liked the GN best out of the two

If I were going to use a bow quiver, I'd go with a Mini Boa or Eagle's Flight.

I've tried several, and I don't like them. Makes my longbow feel off balance, and if don't have everything right they can add a lot of noise.

The best quiver I've found to date (I think my search has finally ended) is the Safari Tough Arrowmaster. I haven't hunted with it yet, but I have used it at some tournaments--rides good, very quiet, fletches are covered/protected, can be worn several different ways, will carry one arrow or a bunch, has a generous pocket--this one has it all IMO.

I like the Bear quiver if you have mounting inserts or will put them in.

I have and also like the Kwikee Kwiver.

Both easily come off the bow for treestand hunting. The Kwikee is not good for carbon arrows though, the gripperholes are too large to hold the arrows tight.

RE: Quiver Ideas

I've got a Thunderhorn Boa and I like it better than any other bow quiver I've ever tried. Normally, I HATE bow mounted quivers because they make the bow feel so top heavy, but this one ain't bad.:)

By the way, I've still got an original Kwikee Kwiver that I got before they dreamed up the idea of a broadhead hood, about 45 years ago. It was a lot better than carrying my arrows in my hand, but it was pretty easy to poke yourself with a broadhead if you weren't kinda careful. There might still be a couple of scars on the back of my right leg. LOL ;)

I use a Eagles Flight Archery quiver! Works great on my Longbow, I can take it off in an instant and the arrows stay put! If your a member of Tradgang.com Don will give you a great deal on quivers and shipping! Go to the tradgang.com sponsors forum and look up EFA and see the deals he offers! I paid $50 shipped to my door!

Great Northern and Selway have long been popular quivers, too.

I just stuck an eagle's flight on mine. I like it so far regarding the feel. But if I don't check the arrows after every shot or 2, one will fall out. Not liking that part of it.

3 Rivers Archery has some gorgeous leather back quivers that I like. I don't care for bow quivers much. Their 'Rover' model is BEAUTIFUL at $109! It's not cheap but will last a lifetime and looks great too!

RE: Quiver Ideas

Back quivers are probably the coolest looking, but in my opinion they are the least comfortable and least functional quiver you can get--especially for hunting. I've tried a few, both for hunting and for tournament shooting. Hot, noisy, easy to dump arrows if you bend over, way too much movement required to get an arrow out for hunting purposes, it's a "catch all" for every leaf, twig, etc. that drops........not for me.

You couldn't give me one if part of the deal was I actually had to use it. The only exception I can think of would be a Ben Peason style with the extra strap, and only then for bird hunting (to hold a boatload of arrows). Not sure I could be persuaded to use one even for that.

I also like the Safari Tuff Arrowmaster, pretty good looking quiver and no to pricey![8D]

RE: Quiver Ideas

Yeah, Chad, most back quivers you get these days are made with leather that's too stiff and will definitely dump your arrows when you bend over. Softer leather will bend with your back and actually clamp the arrows in so they can't fall out, so keep that in mind for when/if you decide to make your own.

My beef with back quivers is I'm so tall I already have a problem with low hanging tree limbs and the arrows don't bend with me when I bend my head. My head clears the branch but the arrows bring me to a dead stop. [:@]

I've come to like the Plains Indian style quiver. It hangs by your side where you can grab it and hug it into your chest while going through the thick stuff. It doesn't take a whole lot of movement to draw an arrow. I didn't put one on mine, but you can add a flap to the quiver to fold over and protect your fletchings if you get caught in the rain. Mine cost me about $10. Found the leather for cheap in a flea market.

Yep--that's some of the problems I had with them Art. I've used Plains style quivers also, and they were ok. The Arrowmaster I mentioned does everything a plains style will do, plus a whole lot more. Kinda like a horse and buggy upgraded to a loaded out truck.

You know me, Chad. The decked out truck is awful nice when I need it, but I go the horse and buggy route whenever I can away with it. ;)

I hear ya' Art--I like to ride my 'ol mule myself.

Bob, check out the Arrowmaster. Not quite as "traditional" looking, but after using a quiver very similar to that one, I'd take the AM 10 to 1.

Just a word from someone who's been there/done that. Many a dollar has changed hands due to folks making a purchase based just on looks--not just in this sport either.

I do think we are among the worst though, after horse people.[8D] My wife would pay a bunch of money for a spottedhorse and probably wouldn't even ask if it was saddle broke.[:@]

Nope Steven Catts.

Chadis that the one that Rod Jenkin's makes?

Well I have had the 3 River's Archery Rover quiver before someone decided to take it from my truck! Only 1 thing I would do if I buy another is to add some sheepskin padding inside the quiver to quiet the 'jostling' of the arrows around once inside the quiver. The quiver itself is made of top quality soft oiled leather. Its looks really nice and isn't overly big or gaudy.

After a lot of though I'm ordering the ArrowMaster Quiver by Rod Jenkins. I think it will best suite my needs. I had a CatQuiver IV that I never really liked much and ended up selling it over the summer, so now I'm in need of a decent hunting quiver. Don't really feel like selling a bow right now to finance one of Steve Catts quivers like the one I posted the picture off.

Bob, I put my order in on Friday, Rod shipped it Saturday and its sitting at the post office here in Milwaukee somewhere as of 5:08am this morning![8D] I'm thinking it will arrive tomorrow! I can't wait, I've had my eye on one all summer and following the Arrowmaster thread on tradgang really sold me on it!

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Rod shipped it saturday and I had a notice in my mailbox from this morning. I just went and picked it up, what a excellent quiver, top notch quality! I can't wait to get it in the woods this weekend! This is exactly what I was looking for and then some! It even matches my camo, Predator Deception!!!!!!!!!

I have gone with a back quiver. That way i can take it off and hang in a tree when im stopped somewhere. I dont mind a kwikee on a bow with a big riser, but on most longbows, they make them feel a bit off balance.

What is it specifically you guys like about this quiver over others?

RE: Quiver Ideas

For me, I like the fact that it is not attached to my Longbow! This was a big plus for me! Other pros, it matches my Predator camo, the quiver fits in the pocket of my 3Rivers Longbow case, the pockets in the quiver that hold and extra string, tab, therma cell and straps to my Lone Wolf hang on, its waterproof, ease of use to hang in a tree while on stand. This to me is a top notch quiver. I tell ya, if I ever take my Bowtech in the woods again the quiver will go with me, but don't bet on me taking the Bowtech in the woods, not a safe bet!!;)

Well I was using a catquiver IV for the past few years and never really like it. I ended up selling it this past spring.

I didn't want a pure back quiver, hip quiver, or bow quiver. I'd have to say that this quiver is one of the closest that I have seen to a perfect quiver (the other one being Steve Catts, but not enough $$$ to buy that one this year).

Anyway, I like the lightness, easy arrow removal, the protective storm cover that protects fletchings, and the large pounch (pretty much big enough for everything).

The Arrowmaster is the BEST QUIVER EVER! I just got mine and love it. Don't waste your money on anything else.
