You need to go straight to BBA (Bow BuyersAnonymous)

RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
Beautiful, I am only starting to experience how addictive this traditional archery can be.

RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
Dang--I haven't made strings for Morrison in quite a while........
I agree with the rest--ask Bob about drawing that one to 30". Some bows will handle it just fine, but I have heard of some that were built SPECIFICALLY for a certain draw length and breaking when pulled much past that. I don't think it will hurt it, but better safe than sorry. I've pulled a CM Raven (52") to 31" or better--finger pinch is awful, but didn't hurt the bow. Chad |
RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
Matt, my friend, if you'll recall... I DID warn you about this particular aspect of traditional archery. Not like I'm trying to say "I told ya so" or anything.:D
I imagine the bow will stack asmidge andyou might notice a bit ofpinchbut I don't think you'll hurt the bow at all by pulling it to 30", but I guess I have to agree.. better safe than sorry. Call Bob. I'vedone significant shooting withabout a half dozen56" bows at 32" draw and the only one it really hurt was my much mourned for RedWing Hunter. It delaminated but it was more than 40 years old too. For some reason, most of those short bows seem to shoot well for me and there's just something about the look of a highly deflexed short recurve that draws me to 'em. To my eye, the profile of a Kodiak Mag is perfection. That's just the way it is and I can't help myself. [&:];) |
RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
Dang--I haven't made strings for Morrison in quite a while........ And I got some dissapointing news from Bob that I will "eventually" blow the limbs drawing it to 30". :(Not sure what "Eventually" means. LOL So I have my buddy Frank worked into a froth over getting it and if it doesn't work for me he's going to take it. Or I'll find one of you short armed guys who can use it. ;) |
RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
Matt - do yourself a big favor and go see Mike, Caroland Jason Fedora at their shop - just northeast of Lebanon.
Mike's been building bows for over 40 years and has forgot more then most know. Everything from diamondwood to the most unique and beautiful bows you will see anywhere. They will have a great selection for you to shoot - take your arrows, have time to kill, and if Mike is on, wear boots:D. I'll bet you a dollar if you go, you will either leave with a bow or have ordered one. Let me know if you need contact info. Steve |
RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
I was just talking back and forth with Bob at Morrison today and here's what he said:
"The stress will be right at the fadeout and the limb bolt area. You may get 10000 shots or 2, A long draw is tough on a bow, especially a short high performance bow." So it looks like if I shoot it I may never have a problem or it might happen on the 2nd arrow.[:-]Yikes. Oh well I'm still going through with it because I'll hook my buddy up with it, get some longer limbs or sell or trade it for something else. Morrisons are pretty easy sells. |
RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
you truely draw 30" ? wow ...... how tall are you ?
www.tradgang.com and their classified section - put nice pictures in and you'll find a trade for a 62-64" Widow in short order I imagine OR .... try to trade up into an ACS if you can find a taker. I think 58" vs 62" is kinda over-rated - I mean, its only 4" |

I think 58" vs 62" is kinda over-rated - I mean, its only 4" Yes I draw 30" to the back of the riser ona 60# bow at that draw length. The riser is a little wider on my Black widow SA-V and I draw 30.5" to the back of it. I'm 6' 3" and I draw the same on my compounds. 30". I'm just one of those guys who gets good and stretched out, draw elbow back and around. I don't do a lot of hunching or canting or going to the string. |
RE: Ahhhh!!! I did it again!!!
Matt / PAdo you see that much difference in 56" or 58" vs 60" ?
If you're worried about clearance in a blind, spot and stalk antelope. I hunted a couple of year spot & stalk and also decoying - helluva challenge. I have a Mel Dutton antleope decoy - if you don't have one and want to use this one I'll ship it to you and you can send it back when you're done. |
