I'm planning on getting a traditional bow for plinkin around , nothing to serious . I shoot a 54# Merlin XS compound bow normally , so what draw weight should i start with ?

40-45#.....See if you can try afew if anyone has a long or recuve bow around you..They arealot differant then a 54#compound.

Not sure if the deal is going thru or not, but if it does, I can bring you something from the states if you have trouble getting it.

I'd probably go with the take-down recurve with 35-40lb limbs.Then when you want to up in weight,just buy a heavier set of limbs for it

If i don't get sorted , i will PM you . Only want to spend $250 , about 120pounds UK . I'm gonna call in the archery shop and try a couple of bows out around the 40# draw weight , see how it feels .
