strange 45 lbs super kodiak recurve
Has anyone heard of a 45 lbs super kodiak (fred bear) recurve.
Just bought it used in Feb, came from a rich lady that bought it 25
years ago.
Every listing on these all start at 50 lbs.
She had 27" draw,mine is 30".
It's not legal here in Ontario, Canada to hunt for bear or moose, they want 48 point something lbs. I'm sure i'm pulling that much but they go by the stamp .
need some answers before calling Fred Bear , & I probably can't afford to ship it to the state to get it re-stamped.
I've been practising with it for 6 months ( rain - snow - wind - blackflies,ect ) & I love it , don't need an other one Thanks

They made plenty of Super K's in 45 lbs. 45 lbs was a very popular draw weight for deer hunters in the 60's. You don't want the markings changed because that would ruin any collector value it might have. Maybe you should run an ad in the classifieds on Tradgang and see if you can swap it to someone for a 50 pounder.

I live in N Ont as well and Isay you shouldhuntwith that bow. As you know, you are more likely to see Bigfoot than a CO in these parts with the MNR cutbacks. Even if you are checked, they are more interested in orange clothes, valid tags, etc and won't even look at your bow. A well placed arrow from a 45 lb bow will go through a deer, as you know, so there is no ethical dilemma here.

Don't worry about it. Even if you deleted the original post, the answers would remain. Just start another topic if you don't want your follow-up to relate to your original question.
