Will sling MY first traditional arrow, today!
#1
Got my longbow in yesterday. Today....I'm going at lunch to get it set up and buy some arrows. I ordered my glove; arm guard; etc... the other day.....so I'll be shooting my longbow, this weekend.
Thanks for all of the help SO FAR!

Thanks, guys. I listened to a lot of guys....and made this decision.
Lots of thanks to Matt/PA for some SERIOUSLY good (and detailed) information.
I'll report back. I ordered a skookum glove......leather arm guard.....so I think I'll be set to sling some, this weekend (out of town tomorrow and Thurs.[:-]).
Thanks, again!

I've since officially graduated from 'Newbie" to "Hack" but I sure do have fun.

(I'm not an expert traditional shooter but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night)

Thanks to all.
Took my bow shop guy about 3 seconds to string my bow.
Set a knocking point….thingy…and we gat a bareshafted arrow cut. Shot it from about 6 yds to check spine. OK….he says it’s fine….but we change to a lighter tip. Better. Gets one of his fletched arrows and we shoot it. Cool. Hitting a bit high, though. Change the nocking point (raised it)….and we’re now shooting from 12 yds. I saw my first arrow fly “true”. I don’t have to explain to any of you how that felt.
Thanks again guys…..I’m having 6 arrows made up to fling.
Oh yeah…..I took 2 shots from 20 yds before leaving. Awesome. I almost hit the outside scoring ring with the second. Missed by less than an inch. Can’t wait to start shooting some more.

What weight tip did you end up with? Just an FYI, I've found, in the traditional world, that a 125grn tip is at the low end of broadheads that have the cut on contact design you need for trad bows. More common are 145, 150, 165 and even heavier. Most archers want heavy FOC arrows. Glad to hear you're set up.
