Nice looking piece of bocote. I've got some bocote scrap that came off the riser of the longbow I'm making. My plan is to use it to stick a handle on a Helle blade, just like you did. Always wanted a matching knife and bow.

The Massey finish and Fullerplast are both good. Several coats of plain old spray-on polyurethane will work fine (Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane is what I like).

definatly pretty looking knife!

I would tell you to use the massey finish. You want durabilitie and waterproofness in something that is going to be used, the massey finish is it. I have since refinished one of my older helle knifes with the massey finish and so far love it dearly.

I have 2 and love them dearly! The polar is probably as perfect a hunting blade as you can get!

Tung oil.

You can put countless coats on it as you sit at night in front of the TV or whatever. Just put a little drop on your finger and start rubbing. After a few coats you'll really start to see something amazing. Tung oil holds up well, too.
