I have been working on shooting my recurve for a couple of weeks now and really feel good about my progress. I got the book " Become the Arrow" by Byron Ferguson at the advise of dwd2001. It has been a great help and I know how to better focus on what I'm doing. It also taught me that my form must be somewhat different than when shooting my compound.
I also, after trying several different arrows found the right ones. What a difference. I am shooting aluminum 2016 cut at 30" with a 125gr. field tip. My DL is 28 1/2". I found this by placing a clothespin on the shaft and drawing to my anchor with my eyes closed. I did this several times and the results were consistant.
I am now able to shoot a consistant paperplate group at 15 yds. Not great by any means but great progress. I will move out to 20yds tomorrow and see how I do. This is fun!

Well done buddy, sounds like you're doing well! That book really did help me as well because it told me what things I needed to focus on. You'll be sticking pigs in no time! Traditional archery is definitely addictive, I can't wait to pick a bow up again (hopefully it won't be much longer). Keep at it and keep us updated on the progress.

I'm shooting better with the aluminums. The cedars are much better looking and I would really like to use them but the nocks are really loose on the string. They fall right off. I'll get some new nocks glued on and try them again. I have some alum 2018s on the way as well as more woodies so I'll be able to really try some different things if my wife doesn't kill me first. She doesn't understand the need for so many different arrows.
