tred barta?
I wanted to know what you guys thought of tred barta because I think he's a discrase to other hunters.I watched his show and in the beginning this is exactly what he says.''I'm captain barta and i'm one of the best big game fishernan in the world.I've caught more big eyed tuna then any other fisher man alive''.I think you should watch out for him because he loves himself.
|
RE: tred barta?
And Ted Nugent isn't a little full of himself? I think Tred is attempting to be humorous. Also, it's spelled "disgraced".
Regards. |
RE: tred barta?
I wood rater wach TN,TB ovr Jim S.anie day ov the wek.
Are you going to correct me too:D;). I watch tho's shows for the entertainment factor only,if I watch them at all.....Altho I do get some tips of them and apply them to my hunting some what. I would rather watch Shooting USA or Guns and Ammo anyday of the week. |
RE: tred barta?
I don't often watch any hunting shows any more, but I do watch Barta when I'm channel surfing and catch his show. Yep, he's got ego and to spare but there is one thing I really like about him... other than the fact he shoots a longbow.
He doesn't prostitute himself or his ideals for the sake of getting sponsors like all - yes, I said ALL - the other hunting show stars do. And he doesn't cover up his screw-ups. I have yet to see him gut shoot an animal and tell how it was a perfect hit, like I've seen on so many other shows. Barta's no more a disgrace than any other. He just doesn't go over his show with a bucket of whitewash before he puts it on the air. |
RE: tred barta?
computer malfunction: duplicate post.
|
RE: tred barta?
I can't knock anyone who has killed a grizzly with a longbow.
|
RE: tred barta?
He hunted with a outfitter that I'm good friends with and he seemed like a great guy, matter of fact it showed the show again the other day, it is the show where he hunted spot and stalk Javis in South Texas with a Brazos Archery outfitters...
|
RE: tred barta?
I like him, does he have an attitude, yes he does. But he's a pretty good shooter, and I like the fact he does it his way, the hard way, the BARTA way. After all, isn't that why most of us started hunting with a bow.
|
RE: tred barta?
I have to admit that even though I am not a Barta fan, I still catch myself watching his show! He does seem to be a bit obnoxius at times but at the same time I wonder how interesting it may be to hunt with him? You definately have to agree that he is very knowledgable. And give him some credit... I just saw the show where he takes a ringed mallard with hiw bow!
|
RE: tred barta?
I think he's entertaining and nobody can knock him for not sticking to his guns. I'd rather have a world full of Tred's than a world full of Jackie Butchmasters.
|
RE: tred barta?
I hate Tred Barta. Ted nugent actually does something for the sport. iJm Shockey is bad too.
|
RE: tred barta?
I hardly watch any of those hunting shows but almost always make time for Tred Barta. He is a great guy with an excellent, entertaining hunting show!!!!
|
RE: tred barta?
Tread and Fred Eclier, Are the only two shows worth watching IMHO the rest are just being hookers for corpret sponser. Ok So is Fred but he's a trad Hunter and its just a fun show to watch
|
RE: tred barta?
I have watched his show and he has to b one of the worst shots i have ever seen. I mean the one i watched he was not as bad as you where saying but i watched him try to shot a duck in flight with a recurve. He did it but it took him 6 years to do it. I did hate his show. He is loud and has no respect for the people that are letting him hunt.
|
RE: tred barta?
are you saying he is a bad shot for trying to shoot a flying duck and not succeding for 6 years?..you try and see how long it takes you?...i think the guy puts whatever he does on the show, he doesn't edit his shots.if he makes a bad shot he doesn't cut to a clip of him holding the buck, it shows him looking for it, or packing out a huge moose that died in a pond. i like him.if you dont , then change the channel.

RE: tred barta?
I think Barta, while being obnoxious, still shows the value of trying to suceed in a technical world with hard work and determination. As others have said you see a much more realistic hunting experience from his shows. Generally I don't see any of the hunting shows doing much good for the sport. The majority of us hunters are never going to have the advantage of being able to hunt in places where the sucess of the hunter is almost guaranteed, whether it be in high fence hunts or at hunting preserves that breed and feed to generate giant bucks. The hunting shows advertise such places and film their hunts there. I have never seen a televised hunt here in southeastern NC nor do I expect to. Our woods are too thick and the deer are too hard to kill, even though we have respectable deer. All in all advertisers are generating a desire among us ordinary guys to buy their products so that we too can be sucessful pope and young deer killers in our hunting areas. A wothwhile goal but probably not very realistic.
|
RE: tred barta?
Also Fred Eichler is also a much more realistic experience even though there is a lot of Easton money provided to offer much more opportunity to him than you or I will ever have. The best thing about Fred and Tred is the fact that they are opportunity hunters rather than trophy hunters.
|
RE: tred barta?
tred and fred are 2 of my favorite hunting shows for sure. did ya see freds brown bear charge??? im bowhunting a brownie this fall myself, so that sorta hit home in an ominious worry about things to come kind of way.
|
RE: tred barta?
I honestly like his show. Its entertainment and he does it his way, kind of like Frank Sinatra.
|
RE: tred barta?
Oh he's ok. Fred is the man though. Had a fun hunt with him last year. He will get the super slam before long.

RE: tred barta?
In a TV world littered with shows where these jerks hunt for "trophy bucks"on ranches that would cost us normal guys as much as the trucks we drive. Tred Barta's show is different and entertaining.

RE: tred barta?
Every one marches to a different drummer, and that's all I'm going to say about that! [8D]

RE: tred barta?
Gotta' say it, I love Barta. The only other hunting shows I see are on ESPN2 and VS. and I have yet to see any of the other guys proud of their cow elk, if they would even admit to taking one. Haven't seen anybody else trying to hunt rabbit, geese, ducks, or pheasants with their bows either(wonder if I could talk him into squirrel hunting in Indiana with his bow?). Loved his show on high seas safety, it was over the top but again, no one else is talking about the stuff. Only problem I have with him isn't with him per se, just don't need to see his face on EVERY page of the new 3 Rivers catalog.
|
RE: tred barta?
I just enjoy him as the biggest clutz in the world, he falls down more than what the arrows he shoots,LOL
|
RE: tred barta?
Watched part of a couple of his shows--I don't hate him, but he didn't impress me enough to worry about catching another episode. If I run across one, I'll probably watch it, but I won't set aside time for it.
He may not pimp his gear on the shows, but 3 Rivers sure is. "Barta Bunny Busters"? Look like plain 'ol rubber blunts to me--I never had much luck at all with them on rabbits or grouse. "Barta Wilderness Arrows"? Look like plain 'ol wood arrows to me, with one barred feather. Not exactly a bargain at $75 (a dozen?). Barta bow (looks like a Bear Montanna), Barta blunts (weren't these Tiger Claw bluntsin the last catalog?), Barta glove, Barta armguard, Barta quiver.........at least they didn't rename the Woodsman the Barta broadhead (maybe next catalog?). I'm proud for the guy if he's able to make a living doing what he loves, and maybe even a little jealous--but gimmick advertising has always been a peeve with me. From what little I've seen of him, the guy isn't exactly a crack shot with a bow, and doesn't seem to know as much about building bows and arrowsas a lot of the folks that post here. Putting his name (or anyone else's) on a product, or replacing the original name with his name, won't make it any better (but it will obviously add to the price). I just have to shake my head--it's an insult to our intelligence. Sad part is a lot of people will (literally) buy into it. Guess that old song is true.......people are strange. Chad |

RE: tred barta?
You can say what you want about Tred but what you see on the show is the same guy you will see on the street. Tred is a spokes person for and also uses a line of fishing boats that my company makes and I was able to give him a tour of one of our facilities. I thought he was a great guy. He asked a lot of questions. He never acted like he knew everything and I was impressed by that. But he does carry his fare share of knowledge and he will share it with you if you ask.
|
RE: tred barta?
I really liked the segment in the turkey/ longbow episode where he sat down with the Primative Weapons Specialist (Or whatever his title was) at 3 Rivers Archery.
They sat down and Tred got a tutorial on making a flint arrowhead and he was so genuinely in awe of the process and wanted to be hands on I thought it was a great segment. He looked at the guy doing the work like he was inventing fire for the first time. (By the way after knowing all the work that goes into a single flint arrowhead I wouldn't have the heart to shoot one. Seriously[:-]) |
RE: tred barta?
Tred Barta.. All I want to sayis... I wish him well.

RE: tred barta?
I saw the duck episode. I didn't see anything that was disrespectful of his host. I saw some good natured kidding but no outright disrespect. What exactly are you refering to? As far as his show, well we just don't match well personality wise.

RE: tred barta?
I would hunt or fish with Tred Barta anytime he is ready. I like that he is teaching the old time ethics of learning about your species, learning to do things the hard way, and actually hunting. I am in the process of starting a hunting show in the next year and we start filming during turkey season this year and Tred Barta is one of the people I look up to. His attitude is cocky, but I can tell that he has done his homework for each and every species he hunts and he works hard for the animals that he hunts. He has taken the time to learn the flora and fauna of the area he hunts, and he has talked to everyone he can get his hands on to gain advise. You can tell he wants to learn and he does not hide the fact that he misses or screws up! I would rather watch 4 of his shows where he is unsuccessful then to watch him blast animals over and over the easy way!
Nuff Said! |
RE: tred barta?
i hate biased people... with him getting an animal 30% of the hunts it makes me realize how much of a chance ive got to get my own show
but the show is interesting |
RE: tred barta?
I've only seen a few of his shows, but his ego aside, he does something different and at least to me that's important. Ted Nugent used to be that way, I remember the first time I saw Spirit of the Wild on tv, he shot a little doe. Up until that point I had only seen large, trophy bucks taken on camera. That's when I became a fan of his show. But lately, all he seems to want to do is hunt high fence ranches is texas. Not exactly what I like to watch, and not very original at all.
|
RE: tred barta?
The only thing that I like about Tred is that he uses a Trad Bow alot. He's one of the few big name hunters on TV that uses traditional gear. Other than that, I think the guy is an idiot.
|
RE: tred barta?
Tred is a bit different, that's for sure. Generally, I think he'sa good hunter and well educated aboutthe game he hunts. I must say, I've seen him take more than a couplequestionable (moving)shots on game, and miss. All in all, he is usually quite accurate. There is a part of me the likes him.:)
