Default Twisted limbs

Well I get the idiot card.

I left my recurve in my trunk on a few of the hottest days of the year.
The top limb is severly twisted.

I put the bow against a door and put some C clamps on it to maybe fix it. Is it possible that it will fix it. How long of a time frame should I leave it there??

Is there anything else I could do??

Take the C-clamps off. Ain't gonna work. You need to re-heat the limb and twist it back into alignment by hand. I like the hot water method, myself.

Turn on the hot water spigot in the bathtub and run the water over the limb until it's warmed through. Then twist the limb beyond straight and hold it there untilit cools. Repeat as necessary. You'll eventually get it straight again.

Now, having saidthat.... The heat might have weakened the glue holding the limb together. Don't be shocked if the limb delaminates. Might do it on the first shot. Might take it 10 years. It might not ever delaminate. But it'sa potential disasteryou need to be aware of.

Just be glad you don't live in Texas. It'd have been a puddle of molten goo in the bottom of your trunkif you'd have done that here.[8D]
