The Leatherwall article is a start but it isn't really an in-depth tutorial. There are lots of things you really can't getunless you actually watch the process. You really need to order at least one bow making video from Binghams and watch it.

I just got my first project bow from bingham. It's not as hard as you might think. I haven't started yet, but with the video it makes it look easy. A quick word if you buy from bingham, don't get the $55.00 drillling jig because a $20.00 dowling jig works. I paid 160 for a bow kit with everything from epoxy to strings and stringers. I borrowed the press jig and oven, but they can be made cheaper than being bought. I think making bows is the funnest part of archery, except that 2seconds when you see that arrow pass through a deer.

i started my riser and in about 2 hours have the basic grip shape. I'm building the take down, which is alot easier in my opinion. Take your time, and it will all turn out in the end. I've messed up a few times already, just change the shape alittle, and your good to go.

The takedown cant be any harder than the one piece recurve. It is really hard without using the air hose clamping method. I used C clamps and inner tube clamps. worked great except on the recurves and the bends on the riser where it wasnt enough pressure. I think Im going to try a takedown recurve or takedown reflex deflex after I finish my all bamboo bow that I'm starting in a couple weeks. I am also probably going to need to use the air hose for clamping. good luck

When you build the bow and the laminations are on the form, they are taped down on the form. An air hose about 3" diam is laid on top of the lams and the top half of the form goes on top of the hose. the top of the form is then connected to the bottom part with metal strips screwed onto the form sides. When it is connected, the hose is connected to the air compressor and it is turned on to about 60lbs psi. They cost about $100. Im going to need to get one for my next bow. Try this link. they have everything you need
