Except with horseshoes and handgrenades of course.......
But in hunting, "almost" gets you tag soup......With a week left in the season I decided to slip off work early this afternoon and go to an old cyprus swamp close to home.... The water was up and I was forced to hunt right where the swamp meets the high ground hardwoods...... It was a great day to be in the woods.... Birds singing, ducks flying over head.... I decided to stand beside a VERY large cypress tree......about 30 minutes before dark I hear the sound we all love to hear!!!!! Footsteps in the water.....First I see a young doe trotting in ankle deep water right to me...... And right behind her I see "horns"........ I quickly realize it's a young 8pt with one side broken at the brow, but hey, with the stickbow I will take what I can get..... The buck is gently pushing the doe along, cutting back and forth in pursuit..... They are closing, 30, 25, 20, 15, the doe cuts and goes behind the big cypress and I lose her.... Suddenly the buck stops, checks the thermals and as they often do, caughta wiff of something he didn't like and vanished.......... It was awesome to be that close to the chase and on the ground!!!!
Just thought I would share......

Cool, thanks for sharing. You're lucky to have a season so long.
