Chek-Mate
I know Chad has a thing or two to do with them :D
Lets hear about the Atilla and Longhorn please...decided to just get what I really want instead of another hunk o' alum.... |
RE: Chek-Mate
Yea Bud!!! Good decision! :D:D:D

RE: Chek-Mate
I've never heard anything bad about them, even on other sites.... They are a top notch bow and Chad is numero uno :D

RE: Chek-Mate
yeah...If I don't hunt withit this year, I don't care to be honest...Our season runs pretty late..may be able to put some time in towards the end of the year if I get comfy, if not, oh well....I'm taking my time and doing it right...no heavy poundage, etc...45 pounds and the right arrow/head will do the job inside 15 yards...
I found a dealer that supposedly has a 46 pound Atilla in stock and chekcing to see if he has any longhorns......waiting on email confirmation |

I actually feel like I'm shooting a bow again, connected to the experience. I'll probably spend $40 gearing up for this season (equipment wise, not license and permits) and have much more fun. |

RE: Chek-Mate
ORIGINAL: Double Creek I did fine, but my wife's parents and grandparents homes were flooded. The grandparents home got about 10ft of water and will have to be completely gutted. The parents had about 5-6 feet of water and will have to be gutted as well. Their house was on stilts and 15ft above the ground and still got 6 feet of water!!! All furnishings and such were lost in both homes. Things could be worse though and we are thankful they are safe. |
RE: Chek-Mate
ORIGINAL: Rangeball I did this last season. I had the cabbagge, was ready to plop it down for a new machine, and said "man what the heck are you doing?" I've been shooting a stick ever since. I actually feel like I'm shooting a bow again, connected to the experience. I'll probably spend $40 gearing up for this season (equipment wise, not license and permits) and have much more fun. But I will say this...none of the trad vendors must be hurting for money...I've got a few inquiries in about bows listed in stock and not ONE has got back to me..most of them I contacted a few days ago [:'(].....this always has been an issue w/ the trad shops, IME. The bowyers are generally top notch....but the"general" trad shops are usuallylittle rinky-dinkoperations doing it as a hobby on the side.....I've got no patience for poor Customer Service having "been there , done that" over the years...may just have to order a Savannah from KeyStone or Cabelas or something...yeesh:eek: |
RE: Chek-Mate
Jes wanted to make it clear that I was not referring to Chadas regards to not being contacted about bows in stock. Chad's always beenquick to reply and extremely helpful thecouple times I've contacted him :)

RE: Chek-Mate
Jeff, since you're just now in the process of wetting your feet, I think I'd be more inclined to recommmend the Atilla rather than the Longhorn. But if you can run across a Falcon, I think that'd be even better for you. A little longer, a bit heavier and more stable, all combined to make it easier to shoot and more consistent.
I've got the Kings Pawn - basically the 64" version of the Falcon - and I really enjoy it. Well, more than that, really.... It's my #1 bow. The Falcon has a higher performance limb design tho... That's the only thing I feel is lacking with the Kings Pawn. Even with it's size, my KP is light. This is the only bow I like to use a bow quiver with, and that's mainly to add some mass weight to it. |
RE: Chek-Mate
Thanks Art for the advice....and everyone else...
Chad and I had some discussion last night about the bows...extremely helpful individual. Thank YouChad!:) Unfortunately he just didn't have any bows that suited my needs in stock :((as opposed to my "wants" i.e. the Longhorn...of which he has two!) This morning one of the other vendors contacted me (actually not one of the super slow pokes I was complaining about), and said he did have the Atilla I was looking at still in stock.Through the miracles of the internet and paypal, it should be in mymitts next week. 46@ 28, Zebrawood riser, Black Locust limbs. Again Thanks Chad..def my next Check-Mate is coming from you, bro!:) |
RE: Chek-Mate
Congrats on the new bow!!!!! I'm sure you will love it!!!!!!

RE: Chek-Mate
PICS!
Jeff, where'd you order the accessories from? And what broadheads? I'm torn between the razorcap or 2 blade stingers. Haven't ordered stuff yet cause I just can't make up my mind. |

Haven't ordered stuff yet cause I just can't make up my mind. right now I'm not worried about broadheads...gotta get back in the groove with my shooting first...so didn't order any...most likely I'll be shooting 125 grain Stingers w/ bleeders... BTW...3Rivers archery has 100 grain brass inserts for CX/Blackhawks...*and* ST AXIS....some Axis 500s with those inserts and a 125 grain head would be a seriously good hunting arrow for a 40-50 pound bow I'd think.... Bow is supposed to mail out today..will have some pics up next week (fellow didn't have any pics on the website.....I trust people like Arthur and Chad enough to know if they use/believe in it, it'll be a good purchase) |
