I could only be there yesterday (Saturday), but man what a great time! 60 targets took most of the day to shoot, and wore me out, but I managed to see lots of old friends. The course was great--several the shots were a little shorter than I am used to, but it was obvious there was a lot of thought put into them--shorter shots can be as hard or harder than long ones! Targets were set at angles, several had obstacles (trees, vines, etc.), set in areas where the shade and/or sun could really mess with your depth perception, etc. Out of 60 targets, I missed 2--and they were two of the easiest shots on the course! On one, I have no idea what I did, other than take it for granted because it was just too easy (or so I thought). On the other, the sun and shade made it look (to me anyhow) a bit further than it actually was, and I sailed my arrow over it--it was a wide-open shot though, and I should have at least hit the dang thing. The very last shot of the day (target 30 on A side--we started on B) the only thing that saved me was a thick coat of paint on the target. That was a bugger! Pretty much wide open, it was a hog target set like it was rooting--rear in the air, head almost down in a hole, and slightly quartering toward us. I've got to start moving some of my targets to practice on shots other than just broadside!
It was a great shoot, with great people, and I hope I can arrange to stay all weekend next year. Oh yeah--it didn't rain either! I think that is a first!

Well I missed you Chad, but I agree, it was a great course. I had my 9 year old with me so I only shot the "A" course. I have a bad case of "target panic", and I missed 4 targets in the 1st 12 targets(verrry easy shots). Then somebody else missed, and I calmed down after that, and shot pretty good. I been thinking about making some human looking silhouettes and standing them around where I practice. Hmmmm those NASCAR driver ones at the beer store would work, as long as I don't start talking to them.
Hey, but I did get an "8" on the #30 hawg target.

The group I was shooting found a few here and there, but I only found onel little bitty one on my leg after I got home--and I forgot to spray.
Looks like the ticks are going to be rough this year, at least in the Southeast. I shot the Traditional Bowhunters of Florida state shoot a few months ago, and they were REALLY bad there, and at Elberton last weekend. WAY worse than at Enid. Funny though.....I only got one at Elberton, and I don't remember if I got one or none in FL. Guess I don't taste too good. [:'(]
Any idea what the scores were, particularly in Men's Longbow?

Chad,
If I had known you was going to be at Elberton, I would have been sorely tempted to drive up to see you. Unfortunately, my knee is still too tender from the arthroscopic surgery to even think about walking that much. Parking is a premium at Elberton, and if you don't arrive early you WALK!!!
