what is the ideal shot placement on a coyote? I'll be using a17 hmr somewhere between 50-150yrds.

at 50y i think any where in the lung, heart or head area will be good. Im going to do some test with mine this weekend, try to see how much penitrating power u lose from 30 y to 100, and 150y.

is a shoulder shot ideal? or right behind the shoulder? someone I know says it is his sweet spot. just looking for opinions. and thanks for the quick responses!

I think with a bigger gun the sholder is ideal, but with a 17 u need to be a little more precise

I'd say use a bigger gun but shoot him right behind the shoulder and that should bring him down pretty quick.
