STS system ?'s

i just added a floating yoke to my patriot. it eliminated the need for any string silencers on my cable. i shoot a sts, and for whatever reason, with the floating yoke, i don't need any silencer on my string either, where i did with a static yoke. i just made a floating yoke for my neighbors extreme vft. it had the same effect on his. i don't know why. i know davec is also in the process of testing out the floating yoke on his patriot, so we'll see if it has any effect on his. but preliminary testing of 150-200 shots and i think the floating yoke and sts are it for me. it also makes the draw a lot smoother in both my neighbors and my opinion (and it looks cool)

Gibblet,
Your at it again are ya? Nubo and I did some turkey hunting today and he was telling me about how you were expirementing with the floating Yokes. If in fact it turns out to be a plus I will likely want a set as I have an 03 Patriot Dually with 60lb limbs hopefully already shipped to me from an ebay auction last week that has the original strings on it. Let us know how it works out, and I already have the STS. Have you run chrono tests? Thinking maybe I need a string with a small patch of serving where the STS touches the string. A solid green yoke and green and black strings & cables sounds cool looking

terry, i've got mine served where they touch with string material. if you pm me your addy i'll send you enough to do it. i figured string material is lighter and will flex easier. i'll see if i can't get a pic up of the floater.

don't know why its sooooo big, but you can see it. at rest you can tell that it has the effect of shortening one side of a static yoke. it balances the pressure on the limbs. the advantage here is that there is slight motion on the floating assembly throughout the draw, effectively evenly distributing the tension throughout the entire drawing cycle and its very noticable. i got the ok for this from pat dinan (bowtechshooter) and the dimensions for the system from a hoyt guru. the disadvantage with a static yoke is you can only even out the pressure at 1 point of the draw cycle, period. what point will you choose, at rest? at full draw? i just wanted to try it out. i never expected it to quiet the bow down. i didn't expect it to make the draw smoother and take out some hand shock. i realize this can be a hot button issue for some people, i'm only telling you my experience. like i said, it impressed my neighbor so much he had to have one for his extreme and it had the same effect. if it has any effect on speed it is a positive one. davec is busy testing and hopefully we'll hear from him. my neighbor doesn't have a sts, but with the floating yoke with nothing on the cable its quieter (much) and calmer in the hand than it was with the static cable with 2 bowtech silencers. go figure.
swampdog, its just scary to think about what your liberty would feel like with one.

I know this has probaly been asked before but I can't find it. Does STS system elementate the need for string silencers? Is the a thoud or popping sound when the string strikes it? And Does it effect the tune of your bow and is there a speed loss or gain when using it.

With some bows it allows for you to take off your string scilencers. I just put smaller ones on. I have yet to see one make a bow louder. It always makes them quieter. Everyone says that my bow is the quietest they have heard.
Speed... No it never takes away speed. Does it add any. Sometimes, but very little. Unless you remove your string scilencers.
Does it affect your tune. It didn't affect mine. It can shrink your groups a touch though by eliminating a touch of human error. But just a little.
