As far back as possible, or does it really matter?

I fletch mine with my Arizona E-z fletcher just like I would any other Vane and I have no problems.

It doesnt matter...I think I fletch mine about an inch from the base of the nock.

I fletch all my arrows as far back as the Bitzenberger will allow. Finger shooters probably need the feathers or vanes further forward to allow for clearance.
