Default arrow contact on rest; solution? please help, pic included

My bowshop recently put this trophy taker rest on for me and covered the rest with the silent material. I noticed the other day that it was tearing. I assume this is from arrow contact. I'm shooting tomkat 70lbs. left handed, 27inch DL, golttip xt's 26inches 5575, with 100 grain points. My vanes are what come on the arrows, 4inch helicals I believe. Sorry the pic is so big, I'm not good @ posting pics. Any suggestions?

Looks like you may have one or several problems. First you need to replace the moleskin on the rest. You can get some at the shop or just get good ole Dr. Scholls from the pharmacy. There may be several reasons it is only wearing on the one side. Upon release the rest doesn't drop right away if set up properly. At this point the arrow could be bending in toward the riser due to a stiff spined arrow or incorrect centershot placement. And/or the nocking point copuld be off drivng the arrow into the rest upon release. I suggest you replace the moleskin and try paper tuning if you haven't done so already.

Are you shooting with the cock feather (vane) down? If you are, try shooting with the cock vane up.

The rest may not be timed. On mine the moleskin is perfect.

Just thinking outloud, but is it possible that it is tearing as the arrow slides across it as you draw the bow?

Sure. Why not? All it takes is one small tear, and every draw can make it worse. I just ordered one of these rests, so I am going to find out more. I understand that by putting that on the rest itself, it eliminates the noise of the arrow, but also deadens the noise of the rest hitting the bow shelf. How would it be without the moleskin on the rest, and on the shelf only?

I had the same prolem with my Trophy Taker. The rest would not drop fast enough
for vane clearance no matter what I tried. I ended up selling the rest. The only
suggestion I have is to try feathers which will be more forgiving if there is contact
upon release. Some here have good luck with this rest and some don't.
