Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
Picked up my new Justice on Saturday. The shop owner helped me "tune" it with the Trophy Taker dropaway. Didn't pay attention until we got home, but I am getting pretty major vane contact on the rest. I am shooting cock vane down. No clue how to adjust this problem or what exactly the problem is. I am assuming that the rest is not dropping quick enough? Detailed help would be appreciated! Can't shoot with the vanes in any other position because it looks like the rest cable will contact the vane.

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
Easist way I have found to set most cord operated drop away is to serve the string a few times around but not so much or so tight that the cord will not pull through the serving. Draw the bow back and you will see the cord pull up the rest then pull itself through the serving. Let it down and serve it in the rest of the way very tight. Now put a big glob of wax on the cable under the tag end of the cord right up next to the serving. Cut the cord and melt the end so it won't pull through. The wax is to protect the cable from the fire.
Now your rest should come up about the last few inches of draw and drop long before the fletching gets to the rest. I also do not split the bows cable and put the cord through the middle. I have found that with the cord through the cable it tends to wear out the cable faster in that spot. The cord is fairly rough and rubs the inside of the bows cable. |

Unscrew the screw that attaches the rest to the bow, cut the string attached to your cable, and throw it away! LOL I'm just kidding. I have the TTSH rest and LOVE it.

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
Lady, big bulls is right the launcher arm should be all the way up the last few inches of your drae cycle. To get the rest to do this, I take the string from the rest and put it through the downward pulling cable. Next I serve the cable directly above the cord from the launcher arm. The cord from the launchere arm should extend through the cable about 3 inches (extra). This extra cord will give you room to play with the rate at which the launcher arm will fall. Tie a knot in the launcher cord behind the cable, draw the bow and see when the arm is fully up. Now you can use the extra to fine tune the drop rate. You can untie the knot and move it out or move it closer which ever you need to do. Hope this helps.

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
Can I make this adjustment after the rest has already been installed? Will I need a new rest "string" to re-do it? Sorry to be so dense, but this is the first drop away I have ever seen in person, much less tried to adjust. Thank you for all the responses.

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
yes if the string has been knotted at the cable and cut you will need a new one.l

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
Or, and maybe a quicker and simpler solution, you could try shooting cock vane up.

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
Can't shoot with the cock vane up because then I have problems with the right vane hitting the string that runs from the rest to the cable slide. Is the rest mounted wrong to begin with? The rest is attached via string to the cable slide, not the down cable.

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
how is it fastened to the cable slide?

RE: Help adjusting a Trophy Taker Shakey
Don't quote me on this since I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but I think the string is wrapped around one of the "tabs" on the slide. I'll look closely at it tonight so I can be more specific.
