Great choice, your getting the best all around bow available for the money in the Max2000.

I think straightarrow makes a very good point with regard to bow hunting bows. Single cam bows appear to be more simplistic than dual cams and advertising has gained much public appeal for the single cam. There are quite a few bow companies that do not have twin cam bows as part of their current line-up. Are there many bow companies that only offer dual cam bows? It's a wash for me. These guys have really piqued my interest in Merlin bows and Pinwheel's explanation of the benefits of the dual cam have certainly made them more appealing.

This is a little off subject, but on the dual cam thing, I just got a dual cam bow. It's more accurate (for me) and faster (I like that). I like the different draw cycle, pretty consistent resistance to the wall. No building weight than break over, slam into the wall. I enjoy tinkering so now I can, even more if I want. I know my next new bow will have dual cams.

W460- The Merlin strings are as good as any factory string out there.They come stock with D-97 strings and cables, and offer 450+ as an option. I have never found any reason to go for anything more than the D-97, which I have been using since it came out and have never found the need to go to another material. (tho I have shot other material on many other bows) It produces a soft shot, yet is very low stretch and therefore produces excellent speed. It is your own decision if you choose to purchase aftermarket strings/cables, but it really isn't necessary IMHO. My stock strings/cables have not moved in over 8 months since I first installed them.

Ok Thanks Pinwheel, sounds like the strings are good. I just want a string that i can use a fletcher peep and not have it rotate after every shot. Well here it is:
Merlin max2000
silver
rapid cams
shoot thru system
carbon fusion limbs,

Is there any other options I need to look into before i order? Thanks everbody for making me look at Merlins, I think I will like.

I prefer silver accessories with my silver Super Nova but black contrasts well with silver too.
Works for the Oakland Raiders. :^)

Thanks Sag, I would like to find a silver drop away rest, any help? I see &quot;arco sport spigarelli top rest&quot; is silver, but have no idea if its any good, and I cant find anyone that sells it in the states.

I hear the Spigarelli is a good rest but have no experience with it. I believe, Simon Tarplee, who shoots a Max2000 and is a Merlin shooter uses one.
Have no idea why ARC is not available in silver anymore.
You might ask the guys at Archery Talk about a silver ARC and maybe they would know where to find one.
They are a popular rest over there.
Some people convert the GKF rests to drop-away's but I haven't tried it, myself.
Pinwheel might be able to help you with that information.
The Premere rests are available in silver.
I have the Pro Tuner in a stainless finish but with a black tongue launcher. It looks great with a silver bow in case you can't find a silver drop-away to suit you.
I get great groups from my Pro Tuners on both my Max and Super Nova.
Easiest to tune, adjust, and most bomb proof rest of all time.
Not like I'm trying to talk you into one though, lol.

weatherby, a couple of the guys I shoot with use the Spigarellis and they can't say enough good things about them. They are a solid rest. The one thing I have noticed is that all the guys that shoot them have customized them in one way or another. One guy made a custom mount for his bow and another made a custom launcher. The third guy that uses it kept his pretty much stock except for the attachment to the cable slide. Just food for thought.
