Must be. you'll be happy to know I'm getting a new string for the recurve while i'm there. See which one I like best. Any tips on gear for the recurve ?

You don't need much. Bow stringer. I like the old Bearhair rug rest. Armguard. Tab or glove, I kinda prefer a glove like the Super Glove from Alaska Bowhunting Supply. Deerhide with cordovan leather on the fingertips.:

I like that style because the fingertips can't get turned around on my fingers like the ones with individual stalls do.

String silencers... Beaverballs look really neat and traditional and might do all you need but I've had to go with spiderlegs on some bows to get all the twang shut down.

Snoop around on www.alaskabowhunting.com and www.threeriversarchery.com and you'll find lots of neat stuff.

i can put twists in my split cable on my patriot without using my press, and actually prefer to now. its a trick i learned from jaime at bowtech. just did it yesterday as a matter of fact. i'm scared to let anyone around here press my bow after the trouble i've had in the past.

$10 for a basic tuneup and $15 normally for more intensive detailing (within reason)...at least that is what one of the local shops charges. Another charges a $35 flat fee regardless of what gets done. I think this is a very subjective issue and should be based on the services provided and the skill level of the individual doing the tuning. ;)

jeez guys i feel lucky, my proshop does everything for free if you by the bow there or if you just shop there alot regardless where you bought the bow

Shop 'A' charges $X for the bow and takes 1/2 hour to attach accessories.

Shop 'B' charges $X for the bow and takes 1-2 hours to attach the accessories and roughly tune it.

Shop 'C' charges $X for the bow and takes 4-6 hours to attach the accessories, fit it properly, tune it properly, give range time, give a 1 year store warranty, and give discounts on future purchases.

Business 101 question: Which Shop would go out of business first if they all charged the same price for the bow?
