Default 10 yard pin

I was just wondering how many people have a 10 yard pin for hunting. I have one and was thinking about moving it to 20 then my other two pins will be at 30 and 40. All i do is hunt with this bow so what do you think about this idea

Edmund,

I have two hunting bows and I don't use a 10 yd. setting anymore.
I found, I was in the kill zone using my 20 yd. pin at 10 yds. whether from a tree stand or level ground.
So why bother. I like the 20,30,40 settings you refered to much better.

I don't think you need one. But I don't have a clue how your bow shoots either. What's the difference in point of impact using the 2 pins at 10 yards? This will tell you what to do at shots under 20 if you don't have a 10 pin.
I'm set at 25,35,45. I couldn't do that with my older bow. I only hunt as well.

I use my 20 yd pin, and hold over half the space between my arrow on the rest and the 20 yd pin. The only time I bother is on those short targets you get at some shoots. Some folks get confused by those and don't know where to hold. You are only holding over an inch or two , so I guess it might not matter much in the field.

I have not had a 10 yard pin since my bear whitetail hunter bow! I use one pin, set around 25 yards. I get confused by any more during hunting situations.

Actually, on my hunting bow, I have a 7 yard pin, 18 yard pin, and a 28 yard pin. Sounds a little silly, but I won't shoot past 28 yards, so nothing further is needed. I like my seven yard because I can put the pins dead on on a close in shot.

On my traditional bow - no pins!!!!!!!!!!!!
