Mechanicals...How do you practice with them?
I decided I would give the Rocky Mt. Snyper a try this season and was wondering one thing.. Those of you who shoot mechs. How do you practice with them? I shoot them, but of course the blades open and the rubberband is wasted and I have to either put a new one on, or what I did, tie the blades up with dental floss.
I realize I really don't need to shoot them too much more as they are already responsible to busting one arrow, and shaving another pretty deep, but I was wondering if there were any secrets out there to do with them. |
RE: Mechanicals...How do you practice with them?
You can ti them shut with serving or dental floss.......and shoot away:)

Dental floss does work good but I always super glue mine shut. I figure if it's been through a target 30 times then I'm not gonna shoot something that dull and mangled at a deer so why not, it's not good for anything else.

They're supposed to fly like field points so why the need to practice with them?;)

Dental Floss is the way to go, but if you're looking for a similar head that doesn't use o-rings or band, try to Gator XP. Basic design is the same as Snyper, no band and bigger cutting diameter. Flies true with field points from my test.

That is why I use Rocky's Gators XP, no rubberbands. I have had the Snypers rubberbands come off the blades while in the stand.

RE: Mechanicals...How do you practice with them?
I don't pratice with them. When I tuned the bow I shoot broadheads. When I am satisfied with the point of impact with the broadheads I don't shoot them anymore. Just the field tips. Just before season starts I'll shoot the broadheads a couple of times just for confidence.
all pratice is done with my field points. That is the reason I took the time to tune the bow in the first place. I want good arrow flight with all the arrows I shoot reguardless of what is screwed onto the end of it. |

You can always switch to a real broadhead.;)
