No Peep Users!
How many people are using a no-peep? I just went back to my old one from about 5 years ago and I really seem to like it. It was a pain in the A** to set up but I can see my pins alot better without a peep because I have bad eyes. I am looking for any imput on who likes it and who doesn't and why.

RE: No Peep Users!
I like it!Great being able to see my pin until legal shooting is over.

RE: No Peep Users!
I'm pretty sure "Extreme1" can answer your questions about the no peep since He speak's very hightly of it when we last spoke.I will be purchasing one for next season just to see for myself .

RE: No Peep Users!
I got one for free from a guy who did not like it. I put it on and shot my league average same day I installed it. Things can only get better. I really like it. And the price was right :)

RE: No Peep Users!
I've used one for a few years now, and I really like it for hunting, though I sometimes wonder why I still have it on my bow. After using it to check my form for a few months, it got so the bubble in the no-peep was always centered, and I quit looking at it. I find it most handy, if I make a change to my bow, to see that everything is back where I had it.

RE: No Peep Users!
Takes a little while to get used to it, but it does work. I find the most significant difference in my vision is that I can see the target (deer, 3D target, etc.) better when not looking through a peep. With most peeps, I see the pin in low light, but not what's behind it, which is really the most important thing.
|
RE: No Peep Users!
Yes, I use one and like it a lot. I tried to go back to a peep with the no-peep, but just don't like the peep anymore. This will be my third year with it. Just make sure you maintain a consistant grip and anchor, and everything should work fine.
It is a pain to set up first time, but what I would suggest doing is maintaing a tuning log and write down how you got it set up. For example, I had to turn the side screw -------, if I had to move my head to the ------, I had to adjust the bottom screw -----, if I had to raise my head to see centering ring. |
RE: No Peep Users!
I switched to one about 2 months ago and so far I really like it. Like others have said, I can see my pin well past legal time to shoot and now I hardly even have to look at it unless something just doesn't feel right.

RE: No Peep Users!
Used one since 98' and any hunting bow of mine will always wear one.
I went back to a regular peep sight last season for the heck of it and was a paranoid nut worrying about last and first light shot opportunities. Put it back on (newest version which is nicer) this spring and it's like an old friend. A couple nights ago I stepped out the back door and shot 2 arrows from 25 yards, Robinhooded the first arrow dead center of the kill zone. Gotta stop doing that.[:@];) I honestly think it's every bit as accurate as a small in string peep sight and none of the obstructed view. |
RE: No Peep Users!
I had one on my bow for a few monthes and never could shoot consistantly with it. I liked the veiw...I could see everything including my arrow (which I can not with a peep)....but in the end, I had to go back to the peep....

RE: No Peep Users!
Well i do speak very highly of the no-peep.As everyone has already stated it can be a pain to set up alone.Easiest way is to have someone do the very fine tuning for you while you are at full draw and a comfortable anchor.Once the no-peep is set for you,you will be amazed at how much more accurate you will become.
The biggest thing i like about the no-peep is you never have to look through a small peep hole, hoping that the string isnt going to twist and blur your vision,no worries with the no-peep. It might even break a few bad habbits you have as well because any tourquing of the bow grip or not a perfect anchor will tell you right away, usually a small adjustment of the bow at full draw will fix the problem and send the arrow to its intended target. But do remember if you do purchase one, have someone help set it up,it is a pain.Took me a little over an hour of drawing and letting down to get it where i wanted it. Only thing you see between you and the target is your pin and to me that is a big bonus to me.And if you like speed like most people do,well you will gain a little as well. I can go on and on but do yourself a favour and purchase one,you wont regret it:) |
RE: No Peep Users!
In the process of picking one up. Hope its easier to set up than you guys are letting on. At least I know who to talk to if I have any major problems with it....

RE: No Peep Users!
I'm solidly in the No Peep Camp.
It is a great addition to my set up and I'll not go back to the Peep![8D] |
RE: No Peep Users!
I'm solidly in the No Peep Camp. I got rid of the peep and tubing, gonna get my chronograph out tonight (if it's not raining, and see what my fps is at now. I'm still working on a comfortable anchor point though. I'm sighting to the right to the string, it's a lot different than looking through it (with a peep attached). Kindest Regards, -Will in Maryland |
RE: No Peep Users!
I put one on 2 years ago and can't see shooting with out one again. I has corrected my form and tightened my groups.

RE: No Peep Users!
Has anyone here used a no-peep with a pendulum sight?
|
RE: No Peep Users!
I'm going to buy one next and try it on my bow sounds like a winner.
|
RE: No Peep Users!
Davidw, very good question- anyone?
|
RE: No Peep Users!
no peep is awsome and yes davidw it works even better with a pendulum site since it makes you maintain proper shooting form
|
RE: No Peep Users!
since it makes you maintain proper shooting form I was just in the backyard shooting at my 3d and block. Yesterday, I started shooting from 30 yards away, usually my kill zone is up to 20 yards. I am happy to report that I am grouping extremely well at 30 yards (2" average) and consistent hits within my 3d's center of vitals, no misses. This is from standing, sitting, and practicing from my ladder stand (15'). The biggest problem that I have now is the front pin shaking a little as I settle it on the POA (point of aim). I have to attribute that to my hours soak in the hot tup this A.M. I'm like a jellyfish at the moment.... [8D] The ONLY complaint that I have about the No Peep is the glare that can come off of the glass as your viewing it, if the sun is behind you. This can make viewing the alignment within the No Peep difficult. Of course, if you've practiced enough with it, your anchor should be consistent each time you draw. I'm going to design a little "hood" for it, to keep sunlight from directly shining and glaring off of the lense. I still need to break out my chronograph, I'm curious what my arrow speed is, now with the rubber tube and peep sight off of the string. I'll try to do that this morning, and post back here again. Last time I checked, I was shooting 217 fps with the tube and peepsight.... Kindest Regards, -Will in Maryland |
RE: No Peep Users!
Well, just got back in from the bakyard again, after using my chronograph. I'm shooting a PSE Whitetail Extreme, 60lb bow, approximately 427 grain Readhead Supreme carbon arrow, (includes 100 grain field point).
My speed with rubber tubing and peep sight = 217 fps ....without rubber tubing and peep sight = 229 fps This was measured at 15 yards, while shooting from 20 yards away. I also wanted to gage my arrows speed right at the block target. Of course, it's possible to send an arrow right through the front of the chronograph in doing this; but I think I'm becoming accomplished enough not to do this. So..... Arrow speed to block target from 20 yards = 222 fps ...and to block target from 30 yards away = 219 fps I've always wondered what the actual arrow speed was at the target. Not a huge amount of difference; arrow's seem to keep their speed pretty much, from point of origin to a target that's within hunting range. Kindest Regards, -Will in Maryland |
RE: No Peep Users!
I have used one for the last 3 years and would not ever go back to a peep. I wear glasses so it definatly helps me out in low light conditions.
|
RE: No Peep Users!
I never even thought about useing one until I saw all good you guys say about the no peep so I ordered one today.Hope I don't regret it.My shooting eye sees a halo around eveything so hopfully this will help. Those peep sights are hard to see thru and early morning at dusk shots as of know are a no no.;)
|
RE: No Peep Users!
I have though about trying one in the past but didnt think I could get used to shooting with both eyes open. Read all these raving posts so I ordered one and will give it a try. Hopefully it will work out good for me.

RE: No Peep Users!
The no-peep has really helped me catch myslef when my form breaks down, once set up you really don't even realize you are using it ( it just becomes automatic). I will say when you set it up make sure you set the no-peep to you, don't make any adjustments in the way you normally shoot to make it work.

RE: No Peep Users!
I am thinking of having the shop intall one before i pick up my Justice this weekend so i can try it out and see if it will work for me.
|
RE: No Peep Users!
Krotalus,
No need for the shop to 'Install one" for you........it just sits underneath your sight bracket and is held down by the same screws. It's such an individual set-up that it would be impossible for a shop to set it up for you ahead of time. You will need to tweak it yourself. If you decide on it (and I highly recommend you at least TRY it:)) get ahold of me, I will walk you through it. I've set up a bunch of these on my bows and helped others do it properly so I know some tricks. |
RE: No Peep Users!
Matt or anyone who knows,
What's the diff. between the new models and the older models? I haven't seen any of the new ones yet. |
RE: No Peep Users!
gromage.......
I think they actually took my advice at Timberline as one of my only complaints with the older style was the fact that the lens was flush with the end of the unit which caused some glare problems in certain lighting conditions. I used to make a little hood for it to prevent this. They have the lens recessed fully and I can't see any glare problems at all with my new one. also the Dot/circle is sharper and more precise and seems brighter. All in all it's much clearer and nicer to use. |
RE: No Peep Users!
thanks for the offer Matt. i just figured i would have them install it before i picked it up then i could tweak it once i started shooting.
