RE: new bow company check them out......
They look almost identical to a PSE bow.
|
RE: new bow company check them out......
Well they definitely get the award for most trademarks in one bow model!;)
I'll check them out a little closer when I get a chance....Those pockets look interesting? and I assume they must have some dampening stuff in the cam cutouts? |
RE: new bow company check them out......
Matt,go back and check out the cams a little closer. The idler and cam is actually 3 pieces, the best that I can tell, and the middle piece is some kind of composite.Looks and sounds like they are describing plastic to me but I am not sure about that. The best I could tell, the same holds true for the cam.
I am also not a fan of fiberglass limbs or high reflex. I am sure that this is a fine product and would love to try it for myself before I pass judgement but I really have my doubts that it would be for me. |

Definitely some interesting limb pockets and cam/idler system. I would love to give one a go just to see how it sounds and shoots.

Looks like some real innovation going on at Whisper Creek. It's nice to see a company look at things differently. It appears they are relying heavily on this new baffler material they are using to absorb vibration. I like the concept of that actuator/bow strut thing. It must come in different configurations because they say you can order the brace height and ATA that you prefer. I'm not sure that I'm too crazy about the roller guard . They say the limbs are made with braided fiberglass and are "absolutely indestructable". Has anyone ever heard of braided fiberglass?
The warranty seems too good. They guarantee against string wear! Apparently this new "baffler" material is much less abrasive then metal. This may be the most intrigueing bow I've seen come to market, in a long time. Anybody shot one? |
RE: new bow company check them out......
I've never heard of this braided material either. I will say the limbs look unusually wide.
I'd love to shoot it, but I can already see it way too short of a sight window for me to ever consider purchasing one to fool around with:( I remember Jerid Strasheim & Kevin Strother commenting on it at the ATA show, but for the life of me I cannot remember what they said about it...so many bows, so little time:(;) I wonder how much that extra weight at the limb tips (not only from the limbs but also from all the baffling material in the cams) will slow the bow down? |
RE: new bow company check them out......
Click on the TR series bow link. In one spot they say Zebra Twist strings, when you enlarge the bow pic, it says Winners Choice?[&:]

I spoke at length with the owner on Sat.
Some very ineresting stuff and some nice plans for the future. I have the 33" A-A 9" brace 296 IBO coming in for test in a week or two:D |
RE: new bow company check them out......
Cool Rack.
Did by any chance you talk about the strength/composition of this baffling stuff? Reason I ask is thusly If the baffling material sandwiched inbetween the cam and idler is soft or pliable in the least, it's going to be very hard to have a consistent shooting bow. E.g. One of the most crucial factors in a single cam design is having a perfectly round idler. If the idler is not perfectly round the nock point will not return to the same point at brace height after every shot (becuase the idler turns during the shot and does not return to the same spot..mark your idler and you'll see what I mean). If the material wears at any point or is not perfectly round to begin with, it's gonna be trouble. Now double that problem due to the fact the cam is also "filled" with this material. I've had two onecam bows with this problem before..one idler was actually out of round, and the other was drilled slightly off center (in effect causing the same problem). Since my nock point was constantly varying I could never get either of these bows to group for more than a few shots...they would shoot a few good arrows, and then as the nock point position changed, so did POI and tune..arrows would start walking up the target and then back down..as the nock point got too low then the side to side variation came into play as the arrow crashed into the rest. Very frustrating to say the least. I was nearly in tears trying to get those bows to shoot consistently. I'm curious to see about this material, and it's longevity. |
RE: new bow company check them out......
As techno as this bow appears, I am more than a little surprised that they did not utilize hybrid can technology.

Did by any chance you talk about the strength/composition of this baffling stuff? He does db testing and states he is right there with Mathews. parallel limbs next year. Priced right with the top 3 - of not cheaper He had WC strings - but found a higher noise level with them. RE: new bow company check them out......
I was told he brought etchers to the show - to proove the material was very hard and would not wear. As to its "roundness" I do not know. He does db testing and states he is right there with Mathews. Seriously, most companies do DB meter testing with competitors products(among other tests). I've even sent one of my non-BowTech bows to the factory for them to test this year. Interesting when the ears are not the judge what the results actually are. parallel limbs next year hybrid can technology....In the works:) Priced right with the top 3 - of not cheaper He had WC strings - but found a higher noise level with them. ![]() Did you order direct Rack, or did you go through your dealer? |

Did you order direct Rack, or did you go through your dealer? I am 99% sure they are priced cheaper than the big 3 |
RE: new bow company check them out......
Did you partner up and/or open a shop? Is that what all the range target talk was about?
If so, way cool! I wish you much success!:) You'll have to let me know where it be. I've never been to the island, but I may have to make it down there to meet ya, and check the place out! EDIT: Hell, I'll even throw a few $ your way for some string silencers or G-nocks or something ;) |
RE: new bow company check them out......
They need to fix either their typo, or misinformation on the "Truth About Noise" page...
http://www.whispercreekarchery.com/noise.html We, here at Whisper Creek, know that animals hear noise associated with frequency higher than 2,000 hertz (humans can not hear these sounds)..... ...and that's why we have designed our bows to eliminate this high frequency... "A 5 decibel reduction represents a reduction of 50% of the acoustical energy produced by the noise source" |

I deal with the sound industry almost every day. I co-own a recording studio, play in a band, and also do live sound for other bands. |
RE: new bow company check them out......
Noise measurements are expressed as decibels and are also algorithmic measurement. We do not make false claims that are boldy untrue. |
RE: new bow company check them out......
Sorry, but I can't get past this limb pocket. Looks like too much possibility of limb shift and torque on the pocket from the cable guard rod.

RE: new bow company check them out......
the TSS is without a doubt the quietest bow in the world ! I shot a Kodiac for the first time the other day, and couldn't believe how quiet it was. Quietest I've heard to date. There was a buzz in the grip, but you could hardly hear the bow. I gave Whisper Creek a call to clear up some questions. Their website is being re-done to correct some errors on it. They made a lot of changes, they say, so there are some inconsistancies. The hybrid cam will be available in about 60 days. The braided limbs are not going to be out until the 2005 models. Supposedly, it's a patented process that will make for a much stronger limb. The "Bow-Mic" will also not be available until the 2005 models. The bow "Actuator" is increasing IBO speeds by about 20 fps. This is about an $80-$100 option at this time. The "CF" Custom Fit bows will not be available until 2005. Very shortly, they will have a 31" model with more parallel limbs. They say the baffler material is very strong and wear resistance. According to this person, they have put many 10's of thousands of shots through their cams made of this, and they have remained perfectly shaped and intact, with no wear. It's so smooth that it will not wear on a string. In their words, "this material is that good". They even said it could be made in custom colors if the shop ordered enough bows. I told them the limb pocket looked flimsy with the possiblity of limb movement. The response was that it was the exact opposite. Hard to say how much of this is "sales talk" and how much is real potential. Interesting to say the least. I will say, that this person was as courteous and polite as anyone I've ever talked to, from a bow company. |

You want the TRUTH?! You can't HANDLE the Truth... I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it.... great movie..... :) |

What is a TSS? Just curious, where did you get this info? and has undergone side by side comparisons with the other bow manufacturers by an independant survey the survey can be found at Bowsite.net |

ORIGINAL: Bigpapascout What is a TSS? Just curious, where did you get this info? and has undergone side by side comparisons with the other bow manufacturers by an independant survey the survey can be found at Bowsite.net I don't doubt the TSS is extremely quiet, but the reason I ask is that the bow I sent to BowTech this year to have tested I thought was pretty darn loud, yet they told me it "scored" very well when they put it on the decibel meter. |
RE: new bow company check them out......
TSS is the HCA Total Shooting System and has undergone side by side comparisons with the other bow manufacturers by an independant survey Another critical factor in testing, is whether the test is bare bow, with silencers provided by the manufacturer, or with add-on silencers from 3rd party manufacturers. Some manufacturers ship their bows with all kinds of silencing stuff added, others send them completely "bare bow". I've found bows that are relatively loud, can sometimes be made almost silent with a little manipulation by the archer. This is the biggest reason, I seldom pay much attention to loudness ratings. When I get done setting up my bows, most make no more noise than a mouse fart. |
