I was at my local pro shop yesterday and came across a couple of problems that they are having with Mathews bows. I own two Mathews including a new Ovation and I am pleased with both. I have an elbow problem and the Ovation's lack of recoil is perfect for me.
The first problem centered arround the 80% let off post on a new LX, when the post setting was changed from the 65% hole to the 80% hole the letoff percent did not reach 80%, not even close. When we removed the post nut and then scaled the bow the only way that 80% letoff was achieved was when the cam rotated past the specified draw stop hole location. This bow had just been returned from Mathews warranty department do to the same problem, the pro shop owner was upset to say the least. He called mathews up while I was there but had to leave a message for his contact person.
The second problem concerns new bows coming through with "burs" on the inside of the cam track. When he called Mathews about it, he was told to use a small round file to remove them. He then called his sales rep. who couldn't beleive Mathews would even tell him to do that. The pro shop owner is sending every bow back to mathews that he finds has a problem. This pro shop sells a ton of bows, especially Mathews, Hoyt and PSE.
Like I said previously in the post, the pro shop owner was just "a little mad".
Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

I'm sorry to hear this since we all keep Mathew's in such high regard. Seem's that they might have a little problem in their Quality dept ,hopefully they resolve this problem and learn to come up with better option's than this one .I'm sure the customer relation's was thinking that this would be a quick fix for an icolated incident .

The biggest problem I have with Mathews is that if your not in the market for a new bow, DON'T SHOOT ONE OF THE NEW ONES!
I did and next thing I knew I was paying for an Outback. Shoot, I just went in for a half dozen nocks for my arrows.[&o]
I left scratching my head, wondering why nocks got so expensive!
Hope your buddy gets his problems worked out.

rcd567,
I agree that mathews makes a great bow. I don't think that any factory rep. should give out advice like that on a new product.
I also wanted to get this out to see if it was isolated or did other members encounter similar problems.
I don't beleive in bashing any bow company, everyone of them are light years ahead of what we used to shoot. I just think that for the money we pay for thier product that this advice was poor at best.

But 80% do fell like 80% like on my mq32 maybe because ovation is longer I just think its not the same ? I can see how the QC. is letting stuff slide considering mathews is filling more orders now then in july & aug. no excuse though !!
