Ok. Twisted the CRAP out of the string, finally got the cam back into time. Checked ATA and Brace. Brace is now within 3/16" of spec, ATA is 7/16" over, but much improved from post-shop.

The 7/16" over ATA has me wondering if the cable needs addressed as well. Especially since bringing the limbs just under 1/2" more parallel should help towards recoil reduction, which was the point of this thread.

Got to shoot it, although it definitely needs re-tuned. But, I couldn't help myself :)

Hold at full draw is much steadier. I can feel the NVs vibrating a tad at release, a sign they are working, I guess. Felt recoil is reduced. Prior to the NVs, If I shot with an open hand, I was mentally leary of the bow wanting to jump out, even though I'm sure the feeling was an exaggeration, but it was enough to make me feel like I had to catch it. No more. I can shoot open hand, bow does move forward a tad, but not enough to induce the "catch it" reflex.

I think things can only get better if I find a good way to add more mass weigh to the bow. I have some ideas cooking, more for next week.

Serious though, any thoughts on the cable's effect on ATA issue would be much appreciated.

It sounds like Manny, Moe, or Jack might have left the string and cable free to "untwist" themselves while installing the NV's. With your ATA change, it would seem that both are longer than when you took the bow in. Since the ATA is longer than when you took the bow in, then I would think the cable would need to be twisted back to length, as well as more twisting of the string to get the cam back to the correct timing position. According to your specs, it would seem that your string and cable stretched a bit from factory specs, unless the factory specs were off. Your "pro shop" pals just seem to have aggravated the problem.

As far as the recoil goes, I would say from my experiences with "Frankenstein" that if you tighten up the string and cable, you should have a little less recoil and vibration. When I originally put that bow together, my first set of string and cables gave me a 6 3/8 brace height. On the second set, I shortened the ATA with shorter string and cables, and got a 7 1/4 brace height. That increased the draw weight, but the bow had less recoil and vibe with the higher brace and shorter ATA. With that bow being a twin cam, it was a little easier to change things and just twist the cables to get the cams in synch.
