Best Drop-Away
 

I have an SQ2 and am considering replacing my TM Hunter with a drop away. Any recommendations?

I'm a big fan of the Trophy Ridge Drop Zone. I switched to it this year from a whisker biscuit and will never look back. These are the reasons I like it:
1. Fletching clearance is good with 4" right helical vanes on skinny ICS 400 arrows.
2. Totally silent while drawing back. The foam arrow holder that sits on the shelf is whisper quiet as well.
3. The bow I shoot (Bowtech Liberty) is virtually vibration free, but I still like the vibration control material built into the rest.
4. Easy to set up and tune.
5. Built very solid.

Second on the Drop Zone..........not that I have alot of experience with the others, but I did manage to get my hands on several of the others, if not to actually try them. The Drop Zone worked great and I've got no reason to change at this point.

I'll throw in my vote for the Trophy Taker. Very accurate, lightweight, and tough as nails. The only guff I have with it is noise. Rests designed to hit the riser inevitably cause more noise. That is one thing I really like about the Drop Zones though.

Check out the TKO rest .
It is a 3 in 1 rest and is bullet proof and not heavy and bulky.
Sets up fast and is so adjustable.

I will have to say the
Golden Key Futura Infiniti Drop Away

I just got my new Infiniti Drop Away and TKO Dropaway the other day.
With the Infiniti Drop Away ....After a brief rest setup and center shot.....I then proceeded to paper tune it and got the perfect bullet hole on the 1st paper shot.:)
I then took it out to the practice shooting area and at 20 yards.. shooting a 1 inch spot shot dead X the 1st arrow... I then shot a 2nd arrow at the same spot and the arrow hit the back of the 1st arrow and bounced back out and hit the ground... so I shot a 3rd arrow at the same spot and got a robinhood in the 1st arrow.... almost had the double robinhood:D
This rest is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have watched my 4 inch groups at 50 yards go down to 2 inch groups at 50 yards with this rest.
With the Infiniti you have a screw for elevation and one for your horizontal you turn them to move the rest to the setting you want and you dont have to tighten them down..... they self lock......I am notorious for stripping out allen head screws so this is a real bonus for me.
The Infiniti comes with a built in tunning gauge that tells you of any potential arrow rest issues.


The TKO Drop away by Golden Key Futura is a very nice drop away for 1/3 the cost of the Infiniti.
I would prefer the TKO for hunting.... and the Infiniti is my 1st and only choice for 3D.;)

Of all the fall aways I have shot I am really happy with the Trophy Ridge Drop Zone. I like it's durbility, vertical launcher, and warranty. I have found that the vertical launcher is extreamly fast to get out of the way of the arrow fletch. This is also one of a very few rests to have harmonic dampers installed. This year they have a hunter model which is lower priced.

The T-R Drop-Zone is a OK rest(I had it on a BT SC Pat),but for me,the best drop-away is the MZE.I don't like the springs inside of the T-R,and the way the cable attaches on the inside of the rest.The MZE,Trophy Taker,and then the T-R is the way I would rate them.I can say this because I've used all three...Bob

I've used the Trophy Taker original for 3 years now and have no complaint's .i think it's one of the best in the market .I have a Muzzy Zero Effect on it's way that I'm going to try out and let you know what i think of it at a later date.

Yet another vote for the Drop Zone. It's a great, bullet-proof rest. I havent had any problem with mine.

I also like my TKO. It's very basic, but also very functional and smooth. If I get another bow I'll put this on it to try out more effectively.

As a hunting rest, I would rate the Muzzy zero effect the best and as a 3D rest, it would be hard to beat the Trophy Taker. I drew on a 5 pointer this year with the Trophy Taker and my idler wheel bumped a limb. The arrow bounced off and I had to let down. By that time, I was in a panic and missed. The Muzzy has worked great on the other hunting shots I've taken. Don

I wish we could get something like the Barnes that deserved to be a little higher on the list. I don't like these rests that leave the arrow rattling around on the shelf, then elevate it. They feel sloppy, and they make certain types of tuning inconvenient.

I've had the MZE for a year, and the trophy taker since the past weekend. Neither really feels that great. Yhe MZE I would happily put on a hunting bow, but unless I was going to shoot carbons with a lot of spiral, I would probably prefer the Bodoodle.

I'm using the TT on my Mathews C2. So far it's not all that good a fit. There isn't good bearing for the rest (does anyone know why Mathews are such a bunch or morons about not fitting two holes for the rest?). And with my shrewd grip, there isn't much to stick the tape on rest to. Also I get the feeling I may be into some hearbreak, or at least worry until I can be 100% sure this thing insn't coming off during a shoot. I wouldn't use it for a hunt, though some do. The basic design is completely bulletproof. The only downside are the security of the single screw, and not knowing whether my whip will come undone during the shoot. There isn't any reason why it should, but these things have a way of surprising you.

Basicaly all this is just so I can shoot the fletch in Hunter Class, when that part of my season is over, I'm back to a Lizard.

i've been shooting the trophy taker "shakey hunter'' has the wider rest so the arrow wont fall off for a year now and love it,tough as nails.

I need to get some fancy pictures of my new rest contraption...:).

At the moment I am shooting a GKF Golden Premier which I converted to a drop away. I have not had any of the problems with this rest that I had with some of the other drop aways that I have tried.

Everybody will have their opinion of what is the "BEST"
The question is What do you like?

I like the Muzzy Zero Effect My reason is. It has a large capture hook so the arrow will basically stay put unless yo tip the bow upside down, another of my reasons is I take comfort knowing that my arrow will settle into the V groove on the hook at everydraw!

I will be more than happy to post them. All I really did to my Golden Premier is reverse the spring tension and add an additional collar with set screw to attach the "pull cable" to. Took all of about 3-4 minutes to "convert".

Last I checked Trophy Taker made the only dropaway rest!!!!:DAt least it's the best! (hows that for a rhyme?)

At www.goldenkeyarchery.com they are list the Golden Key Futura Infiniti Dropaway Rest for $136.50.
I am shooting 54lbs with 26 inch draw with the Infiniti Dropaway and shooting dead X's at 60 yards:D

I may change my mind and use it for hunting also;)

I'll have to give the TKO Dropaway I got more time on the bow but I cant seem to bring myself to remove the Infiniti from my target bow.... I guess Ill put it on my hunting bow and play with it somemore.

another vote for the golden key infiniti. It's bar none the best rest out there and I personally don't think anything else can hold a candle to it.
