Bowtech Problem
Well I got my string situation figured out - but anotherr problem has arrisen.
Just put a new string on this pro38 and about 2/3rds of the way thru the draw cycle the cam and string start touching each other- just barely but enough that I can hear the end serving on the string contacting the cam. Ive an Idea I might have a bent cam, but if it is its not perceptable to my eye- or could it possibly be a bent axel ? Thought Id ask here to see what others ideas were. Esp befor e I have to contact Bowtech this Monday, Id like to have an idea of whats up. Got alot less on this bow trade than I bargained for [&o] |

RE: Bowtech Problem
OH I know the two are related!!! NOW
I must say tho I thought the problem was elwhere at first and I contacted Bowtech and KEVIN DUFFY at Bowtech has bent over backwards helping me out- even sending me some cam parts for free- Hope hes not getting fed up with me cause it looks like I got to call him again Monday for about the 5th time with this new problem:eek: |
RE: Bowtech Problem
If you can, post some pictures of the problem area and we'll all try to help if we can, worked for Nubb!!!:D

RE: Bowtech Problem
Just thought of something, make sure your buss cable is passing on the inside of the back side of the bow string, cables crossing below the cable rod and the buss cable is closest to the string, above the guard rod.;)

RE: Bowtech Problem
Will check that out- but think Ive everything set correctly in that area- someone else on another site asked if I had the cable slide attached- which I didnt- so I will see if that corrects the problem as it may move the string over a tad to clear the cam upon rollover- That Never even Entered My mind. If that dont work its taken the new string/buss off and checkin the axel. Gonna have to trace it down-
Not only to add insult to injury but also noticed about 4 surface hairline cracks right where the limb bolt slot ends on the limb. JUST SHOOT ME !!!!!!!! |
RE: Bowtech Problem
Got alot less on this bow trade than I bargained for |
RE: Bowtech Problem
With those cracks in the limb, I wouldn't even think about shooting it until I had it looked over and more than likely the limbs replaced. I'm sure Bowtech will be more than willing to work with you on the situation. They are good people. Something tells me you might have dry fired bow in your hands.

RE: Bowtech Problem
Yes I agree muzzyman That can be a very real scenario for this bow, something's definetly wrong here .This probably is the reason for his problem it's probably got a bent axle as well .

RE: Bowtech Problem
If you're shooting a Dually, it is necessary on some models to balance the yokes in both the static and dynamic modes. Usage of a drawing machine and lasers are the best way to perform this process.

RE: Bowtech Problem
Len and others This is a single infinity cam on this bow and well I decided first to just put a cable slide on and see what happened- presto string is no longer contacting cam in any part of the draw cycle- plenty of clearance. Now as for the limbs- i guess Im gonna contact Bowtech and see what i can do- wish me luck-as I really need to get a break- a good break

RE: Bowtech Problem
Hey Morde,,,, were you actually shooting your bow with no cable slide!!!!:(

RE: Bowtech Problem
WWAG LOL- :D
No I wasnt shooting without a cable slide, just drawing it back. Sometimes when I get working on things Im pretty intense- but NOT that intense! Funny - when I first got this bow and noticed the string/ cam rubbing together on the draw it had a cable slide on it then- no brand name slide, just an old black slide. But I put on this new Simms slide that 5shot gave me and no more contact issues. Some people have said elsewhere take it to a shop- Ive been involved in archery for about 4 yrs now, and with my location here in WV most of the archery shops within a fair driving distance are Pawn/Archery shops. Im the kinda person who wants to learn to do it on my own- not only to save money but to LEARN SOMETHING and maybe help someone else. Ive fallen into that catagory that Ive heard about " There are only 2 kind of archers- beginners and those that know everything" and I want out of the latter. sometimes I dont want to ask for help- but I need to humble myself and do just that! Along that line- thru this site- the friendship of 5 shot and other sites I believe that as far as hands on working on bows and tuning Im probably better than 100% of the shops I could drive to within a 60 mile trip here in WV- No Im not trying to brag or get on a high horse- just stating fact from what Ive seen and observed and talked about in shops. One shop I went into - I asked the guy what the brace height was on a certain bow and he asked "me" what brace height was. This string cable situation is a perfect example of of needing other peoples help and thats why I asked here. I got a long way to go, but damn its satisfying being able to do something yourself even if you have to ask for help. Im not puttin down good -knowledgeable(SP?) shops- if there was one I could trust Id frequent it when needed but "when theres no store bought liquor available you make shine" (which is alot better anyway:D) |
RE: Bowtech Problem
The bow should exhibit entirely different drawing characteristics with the cable slide installed. In fact, many companies will advise you not to draw a bow back without the cable guard slide installed.

Thats a risk you take when choosing a used bow. |
