RE: Custom Strings

Everyone on here complains about the cost of a string and cable made by the Winners Choice company. In my opinion they make the best of both on the market!!!I think most of these people complaining are in some way involved with or running there own shop and CAN'T compete with the Winners Chioce products!I will be installing a string and cable made by Winners Choice on BOTH of my Hoyts when the time comes.I think you only get what you pay for.Would you put a $20.00 string on a $600.00 bow?I won't.

A friend of mine took his bow and a buddies bow to a local pro shop. The owner said he makes strings and cables. He left the bows and picked them up 3 days later.

The price? 250 dollars or 125 dollars each.
Now I looked at the strings, nothing fancy just black on black. The bows were Hoyts if that is important. I dont know about anybody else but it seems to me that a Winners Choice with custom colors is not a bad deal at those prices. The strings have held up fine and those 2 guys didnt think nothing of plunking down 1/6 of the bows price to have them shooting like new again. Iam sure that the material used was of the finest quality.

I guess what I am trying to say is it seems to me, people are willing to pay for services they can depend on. Even if it is a little overpriced.

let me ask you this....if you spend a few hundred dollars in a couple of years on strings why not just start making them yourself? it's not that hard, you get to pick your materials, and you get to do something you have complete control over.

I will have to agree. I feel that 100 bucks is kinda steep for something that will eventually wear out and need replacing. My freind shoots winners choice and shoots almost daily. He has to replace his once a year. I shoot 450 plus strings and replace mine once a year. I think I'm saving a couple of bucks for a new bow this way.

Winners Choice does make the best and nicest strings I've seen, make no doubts about it. But, I just cant justify spending that much for them.

RE: Custom Strings

Yes, I do make my own strings. Yes I do sell them to people if they want. No, I don't advertise. Last time I did I had people griping over my price ($14.00 for a string for a double cam). They would e-mail for specs on their bow and difference in materials. I gave all this to them just to help regardless if they bought from me or not. Do I hold a grudge against WC or Muzzy or anyone who makes their own? Nope. I sold mine for what I did because I dislike seeing people get taken, spending way too much and then not changing them as often as they should because either they can't afford to or feel that for the price it is going to hold up indefinetly. Spend what you want where you want, It's not going to affect me one way or the other. It's just my personal feelings that people feel they don't have any alternative then to spend $XXX.XX for their strings and cables. You've never seen me put a price that I charged in here until now. That reason was to show the huge difference. Are any of the other companies better then mine? I feel not. After a year of 3D shooting and hunting my string is the exact length it was when put on and no seperation on the cam (single cam). Am I trying to drum up business? Nope. Just trying to show people that with only a little effort (use the web and you canfind these string makers.
Sorry to go off again but like I said this is a gripe I have against people feeling they have no other choice.
And yes I do put a string on my bow that costs less then $20.00 and never worry about it.

RE: Custom Strings

Grndzr, I wouldnt let anyone convince you to buy anything. If you feel that you want to spend the money and buy winners choice, go for it. Hell, I'f it didnt matter how much I spent on strings, I would probably buy them also. But I do care, so I am going to stick with what I normally buy, been successful with them, so why change?

Besides, I can save that extra money for my new.......Cybertec?
