RE: StarrFlight -New Fletch for Broadheads

This year four manufacturers at the ATA Show asked me to test their products. These tests were requested of me because they know I'm not a 'YES' man and will tear their products apart. Two of them are arrow manufacturers, one is a rest manufacturer, and the fourth is a tool manufacturer. I am testing one set of arrows right now and they aren't looking good.

Please don't even attempt to ask me which ones or how they're failing. All of them asked me to perform the tests for product improvement. Other manufacturers have handed me their products in the past with no stipulations. It's up to them and I have to honor their requests. After all, part of independent testing is to correct discrepancies. It's those companies that allow their products to undergo critical testing that will give you better products.

I would be more than willing to test this new fletch for broadheads. Part of the testing would be done on live animals using our crop damage permits. The publishing of the results would be the manufacturer's call.

5 Shot, Len in maryland, JeffB, Matt / PA, Arthur P, Rack-Attack would also all, IMO, be good choices for testing your product if they wanted to.
Whats up with that Bigbulls? I feel slighted.

;)

CutOnImpact,

There is no problem with you bringing a new product to the attention of the forum. However, I would kindly ask that you do not provide links, etc... in your posts but rather just ask for members to email you with questions, etc....

I was a "over the internet" pre production tester kinda sorta for the Turbo Nocks a few years back:eek:

Not overly impressed but they seem to be catching on.

Sure - send em my way if you care too.

I need something new and hard to smash into my dropzone:)

Oh man................where did I put that allen key:D

review coming soon...[8D]

Interesting concept. If you have a spare I would love to give one a try. All reports would be subjective to StarrFlight's willingness to have the results posted on various forums.

either way - good luck.

I am curious as to the weight of the Starrflight and in your field tests, is FOC measurably different? Is a heavier broadhead required.......etc.

Just to set the record strait, Paul did not post the link to his website in his original post. I found it using a search engine and posted it. His original post asked if it would be OK to solicit feedback. I posted the link to the site so everyone could see what he was talking about.

Sorry PA, It's hard to remember everyone here sometimes. There are so many great folks here. Heck I have to think about what my kids names are sometimes.;):D They are giving me gray hairs and that must be effecting my memory. To top it off, I haven't even reached 30 yet.[&:]

CutOnImpact, PaBowhunter would be another excelent tester so please add him to the list above.:D

I had the same question Cougar mag.I pulled his response from another board.

Thanks for the question and posting the pic.

The 1.0 FOB weights 26 grains. The fletching we tested with glue weight was out about 27-29 depending how much glue (dried). The 1.25 FOB weight is 39 grains. Both fly about the same speed as a 3” fletch and faster than a 5” fletch used for hunting with big warheads. As a general rule, the worse the conditions the faster and better the FOB will perform compared to a fletch of any kind.

FOBs are made of a Nylon base and are tough as nails. The fins have a 4 degree offset. The FOB is more of a rigid structure, when the 200mph blast of air hits the fins (leaving your string) the FOB will produce about 3 time the torque or spin up compared to a fletch. Then add the ring wing on top off that. Makes for a bunch of control.
