I was wondering if any of you "tinkerer's" ever do any of your testing at AMO stds? Since all the newer bows never list AMO anymore it seems, I'd be curious to know what type of speeds some of todays new, hot, high tech bows are putting out.

30"/540gr...at 60, 65, 70lbs? Anyone done any of this? I was looking through some of my older stuff...and everything seemed to list both AMO and IBO speeds back then. Now everything seems to just be IBO.
I was curious to see what the differences are between the older, (not so high tech)..and todays (high tech) bows.

If anyone has done any of this, please post your results if you would. I know most tinkerer's tend to shoot more towards IBO since speed has been, and still is something alot of folks are after. But for some of the folks like me that still shoot "old school"....it would be nice to have some idea of where the new stuff stands in that regard. I only know speeds/specs on the bows I have had.

I can and will attempt to do this with my MM VFT....as it is somewhat stripped at the moment. However, it is a 70 lb peak weight bow and shooting it at 60 lbs will take away some of the efficiency of the design so take the results with a grain of proverbial salt.

Thanks PA. I understand about the 60-70 thing. Maybe you could try at 60-65-70 and see how much difference it is. It would be intersting to see how much the effieciency changes as you head toward the lower end.

I guess I'm just interested to see what some of the newer bows will do with significantly heavier arrows, vs the super lightweight ones. Almost everything everyone posts about testing is based around 5gr/lb.
I'm guessing there still a few folks out there besides me that still shoot heavier aluminums....and would be interested in seeing some info based on heavier arrows. Doesn't really matter what the draw would be. Obviously the longer draw...the more speed it would have. My draw is 29" so I really couldn't test at 30" either.

If anyone has done any testing with newer bows and heavier arrows, lets say 28"-30" draw, 60-65-70lb draw....if they could post the results, I'd appreciate it.

I shoot just above IBO standards for arrow weight, except, I do not have a 30" draw and I don't pull 70lbs!

My current hunting arrows are carbon and weigh 495 grains. Course they're dipped and crested too. I like a heavy arrow.
